“Expensive - New York City prices come to Vermont”

Pricey and a bit full of itself. Food was excellent, but it's distinctly working on maximizing its revenue during a short tourist season.

“Excellent, but Expensive!”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

My friend and I ate here before attending a performance at the Weston Playhouse. A good multi-seeded bread was brought to our table immediately on arrival. We both ordered a salad course, consisting of Local Greens, Vermont Butter and Cheese Company Chevre, Strawberries, Maple Glazed Candied Nuts, and a delicious Nasturtium Vinaigrette, and it was one of the best salads I have had in a long time. This was followed by a complimentary sorbet as a palate cleanser before our next course: the Sea Scallops Special, another appetizer, which we both had ordered as an entree. However, although our waitress had said before we ordered that there would be three scallops per person, only two were provided, along with less than a teaspoon of mixed vegetables (eggplant, onion, and cauliflower). Frankly, disappointing and not worth the price of $30.00 for four scallops and a minuscule amount of vegetables!

We both opted for a Pinot Grigio to accompany our meal, and it was a good choice. At $10.00 per glass, it was a little more expensive than at similar restaurants.

My meal was redeemed by the splendid lavender-flavored Creme Brulee, a most generous portion, garnished with a sliced strawberry and two small cookies, but my friend skipped the dessert course.

Service was excellent, and our dining experience was enhanced by the pianist, who came over to our table for us to choose a piece for him to play. He was happy to play a couple of Chopin Nocturnes, and it made a pleasant change from the more popular show-tunes he had been playing.

In summary, excellent quality food, but rather expensive for a diner with no entrees. The bill with tip was around $100.00!

We liked everything. The food was delicious and the wine selection amazing. The service was good and George, the piano player, was an extra bonus.

“Absolutely delicious”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

A friend and I had dinner here after seeing an afternoon matinee at Weston Playhouse. Our meals were both superb. The menu is limited to about 6 or 7 entrees but everyone should find something they like. My swordfish was a thick cut and was cooked perfectly moist. The sauce was a great addition. Piano music by George created a relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. One of the owners checked to be sure we were happy with our meals. This is the perfect place for a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary.
