We stayed at the Red Shutter 3 times this past winter and had an excellent stay every time! The inn hit all of the items on our checklist….comfortable beds, cozy fireplace, historic charm and great food. The beds are incredibly cozy, which is wonderful after a long day of skiing! Before heading off to bed I would recommend grabbing a drink (they have a very thoughtful wine list) while thawing out in front of the fireplace in the lobby, then hitting the restaurant for a fabulous dinner. The food is fantastic with a large portion of it coming from local farms (a concept I love) it is always creative and well prepared, (and most of my friends accuse me of being a food snob). The two times we ventured out to other restaurants in the area we were asking ourselves why we didn’t just eat at the inn. On top of it all the inn’s owners, John and Rachel were always great hosts! I look forward to getting back up there!

Not only are the Green Mountains and the area beautiful in the summer, but the Red Shutter Inn is the perfect place to enjoy the Wilmington / Southern Vermont area. The hotel is situated perfectly at the edge of town so the whole town is within walking distance but you are not "in" the town. The new owners, Rachel and John, are the perfect hosts. The meals were incredible as they have two chefs that really know how to make a fine meal. This is not hotel food we are talking about here, but fine cuisine. There was no better place to eat in Wilmington.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Shutter Inn. Our amenities far exceeded our expectations. Our suite was very large and comfortable, with a private deck with a very relaxing view. The service was excellent. The food, prepared by a skilled culinist, was incomparable. We highly recommend The Red Shutter Inn.

We were looking for a quite, relaxing weekend and we found it at the Red Shutter Inn. John & Rachael were totally accomodating and interesting to talk to. John arranged an in room massage for me. We stayed in the Joseph Courtemanche Suite and it was beautiful, clean and the bed was wicked comfortable. Food was awesome, especially liked the in season and local farm fresh products, great chef. We have frequented Wilmington for years and can't wait for summer to go back and eat on the deck.

The innkeepers, John & Rachael were very accomodating. We were two couples staying at the inn for the first time. The rooms were nicely appointed and the beds were so comfortable. Great linens & pillows. The breakfast was delicious with variety for everyone's tastes. We only regret we couldn't stay longer and enjoy outdoor dining on the deck.
