Polite staff and very friendly.
The course is well maintained. Every hole is a challenge yet fun.
The eleventh hole is beautiful and long.
We liked the back nine over the front none.

Challenging but fair this golf course is tucked into the mountains of Southern Vermont. The greens are huge but very quick. (don't get above the pin) They have a $35 special Monday thru Wednesday and a senior special for $45 Thursday and Friday. Weekends are for members only. Really nice clubhouse with a good selection of food. Make a tee time, you won't regret it.

This is not a typical mountain course! When your drive lands in the fairway, it tends to stay there and leave you with a fair lie for your second shot!
Also, generally good visibility when approaching the greens ...... not many blind shots!
A good test of shot making!

The Hermitage Club bought Haystack golf course a few years ago. They have been gradually been turning it into a private club. Currently the public can play there Monday — Friday. The weekends are for Heritage Club members only. It's a beautiful course and it's a typical mountain golf, with the challenges it presents. During the 1990's Mark Bradley was the head pro, his son Keegan Bradley, at the age of 10-14 was kicking a lot of butts with his golf game.

course was in very good shape and greens were fast

Course is on the tight side with the fairways having a lot of slope in it. May not need driver all the time

Saying that, never had so much trouble reading greens. Some of the breaks were just crazy.

Pace of play was good and loved the downhill 11th hole. Very fun par 5
