The cottage was beautiful and well kept, the hot tub was fabulous, and the location next to Barboursville Winery was great (we walked there twice). We were originally looking to stay at Barboursville winery but found this place that was about $20 cheaper a night and had a hot tub. I would definitely recommend the cottage, but make a few caveats.
1) There is a $40 booking fee that I was not aware of (maybe I missed it on the VBRO.com write up) so the cost was the same as Barboursville, but this had a hot tub, so we stayed with this place.
2) In the VBRO write up it says that the cottage would have a bottle of wine waiting for you at check in. When booking the cottage you provide your wine preferences (red or white). However there was no wine waiting for us. Thankfully we had brought our own.
3) The website says there is wifi, but when you get there the welcome binder requests you not stream movies on it. For the price of the rental we should have been able to stream a movie.
4) I had contacted the owner for recommendations on winery transportation companies and never received a response to my email. I also emailed her to let her know when we'd be arriving that day, and no response.
None of these complaints are deal breakers, just recommend the rental write up be more accurate. When we arrived we noticed the property is up for sale, so if you're reading this review a year from now, keep in mind there may be a new owner. Bottom line, the property is beautiful, the hot tub is relaxing and the cottage was quaint and clean. We had a great stay.
