“Favorite for Locals”

Fast service. Good food. Favorite among the Locals. Do not be seated next to a table of 25 - tends to be noisy.

“Great food, Great atmosphere, Great staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Olde Liberty Station is our MOST favorite restaurant. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. The owner's wife decorates the entire restaurant for the seasons. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. The station itself is the original site of where the "Bedford Boys" left for WW II. If you are passing through Bedford you can't let the opportunity to dine at OLS pass you by.

“Big portions, fair price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. The website for it said that they didn't open until 12 but we arrived about 11:45 am and people were already going in. We were seated right away, but after about 12:30 pm, people had to wait for a table.

The restaurant is an old railroad station, kind of. The original railroad station suffered a catastrophic fire in 2009 and they rebuilt it with a combination of old and new. The menu was well priced and the server was attentive. There are only 2 or 3 vegetarian items on the menu.

Two people in our party had the catfish, and I would not want to tangle with the catfish that filet came from, because the piece of fish was about 8 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. It was breaded in a peppery batter and fried. It was crispy and spicy, but the pepper eventually became overwhelming. I had a quiche and salad and the quiche piece seemed to be 1/4 the size of a 9x9 pan. It was good, but I was unable to finish it.

They have a full bar and had a nice beer list. The restaurant had many children in it and there was a coloring menu for kids and a kid's menu.

I would recommend it if you like kid friendly restaurants with humongous portions, but the food was just average and I felt wasteful in the end.

“Historic Train Station Well Served as a Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

My wife and I, along with 20 other riders, were camping at the KOA Campground in Monroe, Virginia and wanted to eat here. The restaurant is an old train station that is now a restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and loaded with historic pictures of the past. The service was friendly and they got all our orders correct. That is tough to do with a large group but they were fantastic. The food was tasty and affordable. I had the Ruben sandwich and it was delicious. There was a minimal wait for our food and all our orders came out at the same time. If you're ever in Bedford, I recommend Olde Liberty Station Restaurant.
