“WOW incredible!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2011

This is the Byrd Mansion; for decades it was the home of the Byrd family that seemingly half of VA - roads, bridges, buildings, etc. - is named after.
It is stunning - the common areas throughout the first floor, the suites and rooms on the second floor, the exterior pillared traditional front entrance, the grounds. Beautiful, true to it's history, incredible renovation. It actually did take my breath away when I walked inside for the first time, after driving up the magnificent entrance drive. You enter through the rear of the house and so are not prepared for the size and beauty of the mansion.
It is immaculate clean - my wife and I were so amazed at the cleanliness, we actually began searching for dust, it took us ten minutes to finally find some (a little under our bed).
All the modern conveniences - wireless internet, beautiful bathroom, appropriate lighting for reading, filling breakfast. The welcome reception with the innkeeper was very nice and broke the ice with the other guests, also he has many years of experience operating these establishments.
We stayed in the Nixon Suite - don't be scared off by the name, we loved the porch and the view was more than 180 degrees because it is on a corner.
A professional operation - if I was planning a wedding or major corporate event or similar, this would be my first choice. I could go on with further rave review, but I think you get the point. WOW incredible!!!

Room Tip: Note: the suites are appreciably larger than the rooms, we chose to pay extra for a suite and it wa...

We stayed at the Rosemont Manor for two nights through a Groupon deal. It is the most beautifully decorated place - we stayed in the Eisenhower Suite and it was immaculate. We looked into almost all the other rooms and they were all very tastefully done - the suites are significantly larger than the rooms. Suites seem to have the claw foot tubs and a handshower attachment - bedrooms seem to have the walk-in shower and no tub, so take that into consideration when booking. All the staff were most helpful and friendly. The Manor is very centrally located for trips into Winchester and around various vineyards - they packed us a picnic to take but, unfortunately, it rained, so we had to eat in the car - not quite the outdoor setting that we had pictured! All in all, it was a very restful stay in the most beautiful, elegant setting.

Room Tip: Suites have tubs, but more seating, rooms have showers.

Excellent service, great stay! We stayed at Rosemont with the recent Groupon special. It was fabulous! Andrew was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. All the vineyards that we were given passes to were fantastic. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Eisenhower suite, and in my opinion it's the best room there!

This is a beautiful property with an extensive history. Andrew, the innkeeper, was well prepared to answer all of our questions pertaining to the inn. The recent renovations preserved the integrity of the grand manor home and were done with the highest attention to detail. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Byrd's Study and opened the French doors for a nice breeze on cool nights. The views from our room were extensive and included trees and mountains. The service was great, the food spectacular - we especially enjoyed our picnic lunch, complete with two bottles of wine. There was plenty to do in the area and we were appreciative of the complementary wine-tasting passes for local vineyards. It was a wonderful mid-week getaway for us and we will recommend this B&B to friends and family and hope to book another visit for ourselves soon.

Room Tip: Great personal service!

I had the pleasure of staying at Rosemont Manor in August, and I don't have one negative thing to say about it. It was a wonderful 2 days!

The innkeeper, Andrew, was very nice and helpful. We arrived early, and luckily, we were able to check-in because nobody had stayed in our room the night before. I was able to see every room, and they're all decorated beautifully. Thank heaven for Living Social! We most likely would not have spent the money to stay here without the deal, and we would've missed out on a beautiful, historic property. I reserved the Nixon Suite, and I recommend spending the extra money, if you can, to get a suite. The standard rooms, although very nice, are small, with not a lot of space to move around. We loved staying in the Nixon Suite. The weather was perfect during our trip and it was great to sit out on the enclosed porch.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and they were both great! Loved the baked oatmeal! We really enjoyed exploring the area and had a lovely time Rosemont. It was a wonderful way to relax!!

We booked a two-night stay at Rosemont Manor with a Living Social voucher. We stayed in the Harriman Guest Room. (On the Rosemont website, the Harriman Room pic looks like it is under the Einstein Room Description). Looking back, we should have sprung the extra money to get an upgrade in the room. Not that our room was bad, it didn't have all of the luxuries of the Suites. The Harriman Room had a tub but no shower head. We had to wash our hair in the tub. The tub is big, old, and claw footed but we had to use a drink cup to pour water from the tub over our head.

The bedding was laid out nicely and the bed took up most of the room. The robes are a nice touch. We could hear noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms when we were in our room.

The Wi-Fi was out because Verizon was on strike. There is no TV which is fine. We were going to watch a movie on my laptop but instead we went to a movie theatre in Winchester. We played chess in the game room downstairs and chatted with some other guests staying there.

We went fishing at Sky Meadows Park and we ate the picnic basket lunch included in the Living Social package before we did an extensive hike. We went to Battletown Inn for dinner. It was great except for the wedge salad. The Shrimp and Grits was nice and steak and fries were well done. Afterwards, we went to the Tastee Freeze across the street for a cone. It hit the spot but they told us the would be closing their store soon.

Breakfast was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. Day 1 - Veggie Frittata. Day 2 - Granola pie.

We don't drink so we didn't take a tour of the wineries which was also included in the package. The grounds were nice to stroll around on. The staff was friendly and so were the other quests. It was romantic. I guess for the price I paid for the Living Social package was a good value for our money. I don't think I would have paid full price to stay there though. I tend to look for high value at lower prices when booking a hotel room.

Thank you Rosemont Manor, we had a good stay.

We are so glad that you had a romantic and relaxing stay at Historic Rosemont Manor. It sounds like you made the most of your time in the area by enjoying our peaceful 60-acre grounds as well as visiting nearby Sky Meadows State Park and the town of Winchester.

Thank you for bringing to our attention the discrepancy on the website pictures for the Harriman and the Einstein guest rooms. That page of our site was recently under construction to add information about new amenities and renovations, so we must have inadvertently switched the two pictures during that process. The mistake has been corrected.

We have also added a more detailed description to the website about the bathroom adjoining the Harriman so that it is clear to prospective guests that because of the antique nature of the old-fashioned claw foot tub, it is not equipped with a shower-head. Guests who prefer a more modern bathroom are advised to choose one of the other 10 suites within the manor, all of which include a either a standing shower or a tub with shower head.

In terms of dining while at Rosemont, it sounds like you made some great choices with the Battletown Inn as well as the long-time Berryville favorite for ice cream: Tastee Freeze. We’re glad you enjoyed your picnic lunch from Rosemont, and we hope that the breakfast items you mentioned (Veggie Frittata and Granola Pie) were well complemented by the breakfast meats and fruit that are served alongside them.

At Rosemont we do our best to make sure that your stay is absolutely as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Thank you for your kind words in regards to our staff, all of whom are known to go above and beyond to make our guests feel at home.

Thank you again for letting us know about the needed website changes, and we hope to see you at Rosemont again soon! If you have any other concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Sincerely,

Biff Genda

I took my husband here as a surprise for his b-day and it was great! It was so nice and cozy and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Shout out to Andrew the innkeeper! He was awesome! The staff at Rosemont helped me to plan a wonderful winery tour for my husband for the 2nd day of our stay. Be sure to get down to breakfast at 8:30am so you don't miss out! :)
Also, before deciding upon staying at The Rosemont, I read reviews here on Trip Advisor and a lot of folks talked about the stink bug infestation. Well I tell ya, we saw ONE and ONLY ONE stink bug the entire weekend of our stay. We stayed in the Nixon Suite (the bed was awesome, as was the enclosed outdoor sun room!!!!) and it was wonderful! Next time we will stay in the Churchill Suite. This one is gorgeous also. If you are looking for a nice, quite getaway with the option for some fun (virginia wineries, charlestown casino is only 15 minutes away!), I would highly recommend staying here! You won't regret it! :)

Room Tip: Nixon Suite (has a nice enclosed outdoor sun room) or Churchill Suite (gorgeous furniture)
