“Nice Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

We took our kids there and went fishing and also walked the beach and played and the nice clean park that they had all in walking distance to where we parked. The person at the gate was very helpful in letting us know the fishing rules since we don't fish that often. we will return

we camped here in our rv for thanksgiving weekend. ranger was friendly and helpful. sites are mostly level. ladies room was clean and warm. park has lots to offer, but would be a good idea to come in the summer to enjoy them all. no specific site reservations are accepted. first come, first served.

We camped here in August. While we got a pretty good campsite, we could not identify another we'd have liked. We also like to hike and the trails are largely in wide open fields or near the highway, so that wasn't really our thing. They have a fishing pier that I had a fun couple hours on. The biggest attractions seem to be the beach, the boat ramp and view, all of which are great. If boats/fishing/beaches are your 'thing' when camping then you'd probably have a pretty good time! The rates are good. Just get there early so you can pick a good site (we tent camp, if you're in an RV you are parked in a field). I do share the concern that I've seen in at least one other review about the maintenance/cleanliness of the bath houses. I'd probably give that one aspect a 2. The camp store, while small, had lots of different stuff and didn't rake you over the coals on the pricing--ice for example was $2 for a 10 lb. bag, pretty good. If you're into beach, boating and fishing you'll probably like Kiptopeke.

Room Tip: If tent camping, the first two campsites on either side of the road as you enter any of the 3 tent l...

Second year we've stayed here. The bathrooms are still dirty and unkept.the urinals in the men's washroom don't work (and didn't last year). The beach is nice when it's not crowed. The campsites are crowded with little privacy. If you can come when there's no one else here, it might be OK...but it's hit and miss. The water is warm, but you are staring at rusty old ships that act as a water break. For a state park, it's unimpressive...and we won't be coming back. Go to a national park where they actually care about the place.

We rented a lodge for a group of 15 people at the Kiptopeke State park. The lodge is a big house with 6 bedrooms, 2 of which have 2 bunk beds each. The lodge had enough plates, dishes, glasses and utensils for us to be able to cook at home. The fridge was big enough to store all the perishables we had brought. The rooms were comfy and there were plenty of towels for all of us. A nice veranda on either side of the house was a perfect gathering place for the group and in the night we could do bonfire at the back of the house. There was a small nature trail and butterfly park close to the house. We could not see any birds or butterflies as it was raining very hard. The beach is close by and is protected from breaking waves. There is a big camping site on the park and facilities are available for trash disposal, water connection etc.
Our lodge code did not work initially but the ranger was onsite in less that 5 minutes after we called him. He helped us get in and also checked back next day to fix a broken hinge in the outer door. Overall the quality of stay was nothing less than in a resort.
