Enjoyed my one night stay but especially love the food at the Old Mill Room! I've dined there several times the past few years and my dinners were great as was the buffet lunch I had this past time. The Boar's Head is a very nice, historic place with beautiful grounds, helpful and professional staff and spacious, comfortable room. The setting in the outskirts of Charlottesville is tranquil and peaceful.

Thank you for the terrific TripAdvisor post! We, as well as your fellow travelers, greatly appreciate your level of detail regarding your tranquil stay and dining experience. In February, the Old Mill Room at the Boar’s Head again received the AAA Four Diamond Rating for 2014. The Old Mill Room is the only Virginia restaurant to have maintained this award for 27 consecutive years. Our dedicated staff takes pride in delivering the world-class service and farm-to-table cuisine for which our full-service Four Diamond resort is known. We look forward to seeing you as often as your schedule allows.

Loved our one night stay here. HAd dinner in the bistro. Burgers and fries were very good. The room was comfortable and quiet. Bathroom small but nicely renovated. A bargain of a price! Will return if we are back at U Va. Coffee in the am was very good.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Boar’s Head, in beautiful Charlottesville, VA. The Boar’s Head has a charming old hotel feeling, while still providing a clean modern atmosphere for today’s travelers. Our room and bathroom were clean, spacious and well appointed. In addition, the room featured a private balcony with a beautiful view of the lake. We took advantage of the spa services, which really hit the spot. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and really give it high marks. The location was also great, as it is just a short drive to downtown Charlottesville and a few of the Presidential homes, most notably, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. From start to finish, our stay was superb and we would definitely recommend the Boar’s Head to anyone traveling to Charlottesville, VA.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake-view room on the upper floor.

My husband and I spent one of the most unforgettable weekends at Boar's Head Inn this past week. The service was top notch. The dining experience was amazing from the food to the waitstaff. I get reminders thru email or phone of all our reservations (dinners and spa). It was cold outside but we managed to walk around the trail by the lake. I can only imagine how spectacular it is during the other seasons. I highly recommend Boar's Head to anyone who are in the area. Also, visit the wineries.

Everything about the Boar's Head looks and feels perfect until you try to spend a night in one of the newer room (11xx, 12xx, 13xx) which have wall mounted outside heating/cooling units - these units are similar to motel units and the compressor cycle on and off all night long, cold and warm air, vibrating and rattling until we jammed it with towels. Then breakfast was 40 minutes later than requested! Then they would not accept my room number to pay for drinks in the ballroom bar! I was expecting so much but was truly disappointed.....
