“Relaxing Stay After a Long Flight”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We stayed here after arriving from a long flight. We had a cozy room that has a porch overlooking the lake. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The towels and robes are high-quality. They have a spacious gym, pool area, and a nice trail around the property. We also enjoyed a lovely late dinner at the Bistro 1834, their less formal restaurant.

Just checked in for a one night stay after raving to family about a stay 6 years ago...definitely not what I remember. There is a big difference in rooms on the property...the Ednam building which is where our room is located is very disappointing. My previous stay was in the Main Inn and the rooms were much nicer...mostly likely will not return or recommend.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the Ednam building

Thank you for the posting following your recent stay at Boar’s Head. While it is great to know that you have fond memories of your previous stay, I sincerely apologize for the disappointments you experienced during your most recent stay. No two rooms at Boar’s Head are alike. Rooms in the Ednam building are especially desirable for families who wish to have adjoining rooms or groups who wish to have rooms connecting to the Pavilion’s meeting space. With 175 guest rooms in five different buildings, our Front Desk personnel would have been happy to assign a room more to your liking, based on availability. We greatly appreciate your stay and your extremely valuable feedback. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss your recent visit in more detail.

We found this resort through a Trip Advisor search and it didn't disappoint. The resort looks a little old school, a little outdated on the outside but the rooms were fantastic. They were modern and cozy at the same time and we had an amazing view of the lake. Despite a small housekeeping issue, this hotel and the whole experience we had here was amazing. We took advantage of the Bistro and the Old Mill restaurants, but didn't golf or do any spa treatments. The Bistro was awesome and we were able to sit outside and admire the view and the food was very good as well. The Old Mill was more an older crowd in my opinion. It was highly rated and the food was tasty but ambiance was lacking a bit. We were there on a Sunday so that probably had something to do with it, but places downtown seemed livelier and more variety.
The staff was very friendly and mostly knowledgeable of what Charlottesville had to offer. I would recommend hitting up Pippin Hill Vineyard and King Family Vineyard if you only have time for a couple. These two had phenomenal views and good wine/food.
The Boar's Head is a place I would send friends or family and I hope to return again as well.
I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

I was at the Boar's Head for a family wedding in Charlottesville, and was most impressed by the comfort and fittings of the room, friendliness of staff, beautiful surroundings, excellent dining facilities including food, setting and staff quality.

Visited the Boar's Head for a wedding weekend, and I would gladly return. Charlottesville is lovely and the BH is consistent with the beautiful surroundings. Excellent service and friendly staff. The rooms are nice, though because of the age of the hotel, the bathrooms are small. Everyone is very accommodating and wants to please. My stay was short but very pleasant. Thumbs up to the Boar's Head Inn!

Facilities are well-maintained and the staff are well-trained and accomodating. We will be going back because there was so much to see that we did not have time for on this occasion. I liked the parking because it allows easy loading and unloading of luggage from your unit. The sidewalks were maintained and cleaned and we enjoyed being able to walk around the property.

Room Tip: Stayed in the 700 building. Our room overlooked the lake with the walking track. Peaceful and quie...
