The University of Virginia is probably one of the prettiest colleges in the U.S. There's a lot of history there and the setting and buildings are beautiful.

Not many universities are fortunate enough to be steeped in history touched by this amazing man. The Rotunda area and its surrounding academical village take one back to the beginning. Jefferson designed this for close contact between faculty and students. Students still live in these high prestige, low amenity rooms. They are worth seeing, and you can see the room in which Edgar Allen Poe stayed. Faculty stay in their honorific homes too. There are lovely gardens in which a pleasant quarter hour can be passed in fine weather. There is the serpentine wall. Overall, the University has tried to maintain a sense of character in its architecture. The Chapel is lovey. Do try to walk through these lovely grounds.

One of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen. Lots of history- a living testament to Thomas Jefferson.

Although many wouldn't consider visiting UVA unless they were like us and had a teen interested in attending, I would still encourage them to visit. The campus is just stunning and the university's connection to Thomas Jefferson makes it a great complement to Monticello. It is also a World Heritage Site. The campus itself is not very large, and is easy to get around.

Always a beautiful place to visit but Springtime is superb. The Lawn is a must-see and the grass is freshly green. Daffodils bloom and the trees are budding. Walk The Lawn during the day and then again under the moon. Gorgeous and breath-taking.
