“Needs improvement!”
Reviewed 8 July 2012

Too hot - no a/c. Asked to be moved. Host would not. Should have left but hub was hungry. No ice in water. Lukewarm water poured from brown bottle. It's hot and you give me no ice!
Burger & fries hub said were good.
Spinach salad mostly spinach!
So if they improve their temp in building, put ice in glasses and teach host hospitality manners, they might have a good restaurant. Next time, we will go to Eppies...

“gourmet burger using local”
Reviewed 6 July 2012

Place opened mid June 2012 and kind of crowded but decided to wait. Glad we did. I built my own burger with avocado bacon jam gruyere cheese and roasted onion. Selected the local grassfed beef (they also have wagyu). FABULOUS burger, good service even though busy, and great beer list including local microbrews. Adding this to our list of favs for the area.

“underlit and overpriced”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

The concept is a good idea. a very welcoming and comfortable feeling burger joint that uses all the local ingredients they can. A place to meet up with friends 4 nights a week for Happy Hour, an appetizer, and catch the game on the flat screens.

The Good:
The place definitely has a welcoming feel. A very long narrow space with a bar setup that's almost as long. Their beer list is the highlight. Well over 80 selections, most in bottles, They have about 8-10 beers on draft and most of those are local to the Charlottesville area.

The Rest
Again, the idea of having a lot of different burger offerings is a good plan.Their cheapest burger is around $11 going all the way up to $25! It's good to have all these fancy fixins, meat, etc but I really don't need the glitz. I could walk a short distance to 4 other burger joints that are better and a little less. Granted, these places don't have the burger selection that CBB has but if I'm looking for a burger fix I don't need 15 options that are the cost of a great steak I can find nearby.
The inside is very dark. Even during the middle of the afternoon on a sunny day the inside is lowly lit. Is it day or is it night? I can only imagine what it's like at night. probably feel lighter since the lights would illuminate more. Definitely sit outside at this place.
The service is extremely slow. They did just open so hopefully have a couple months the servers and cooks will hit their stride.

Would be a great place to grab a couple beers after work. I can see a few regulars calling this place home but for most I expect them to visit because it's new and talked about a lot but frequent returners I don't see this very often. Walk down to Five Guys, Millers, Pos 4th for cheaper and equally (if not better options) Lower the prices, brighten the lights would do wonders.
