Restaurants on the "Corner" are very collegiate and Michael's is no huge exception. However, Michael's is a little bit different and they provide a good alternative to the average UVa. "Corner" bar. The bar is stocked with a more diverse selection, the food is far better than many of the neighboring restaurants and the overall atmosphere is a little more adult.
If you venture up those steep stairs for lunch or dinner, always check out the daily special. I had a great salmon entrée and others have made positive comments about the steak special. Every once in a while, when the planets align just right, you can snag a table on the deck in good weather. That small overhang only has about 4 tables but in good weather it offers a different perspective on "The Corner" while enjoying drinks or a meal.
