Charlottesville is not exactly a waterfront town but it does have a fair number of seafood restaurants and Rhett's is one of the old standards in that field. Family run, clean, decent food, decent service and plenty of parking make Rhett's a consistent winner. As another reviewer stated, "don't let the strip mall setting fool you". The décor is nothing special and the atmosphere is just what you would expect for a skinny strip mall layout but the food is reasonably priced and always good. Despite the dreaded 29 North location, Rhett's is very accessible and parking is never a problem. It's a good family restaurant or meeting spot for drinks with a few friends. A solid non-chain seafood restaurant in a non-coastal town. I've never had a bad meal there.

Excellent food and good choice of both domestic beers and craft beers. We also had the local drunk to keep us amused

We eat out a lot and have never had a bad meal here. The seafood is fresh, and the quality is consistently high. The staff is nice and you can peek at the chefs doing their magic.

Went here with family- We ordered a variety- all pretty much liked what we got. I had a maples salmon dish covered with a salsa. Crab cakes and catfish also reported as good. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Bread is fresh made. Menu prices for what we got were $20- $25. Plenty of parking - shopping mall area;located up route 29 north of Charlottesville makes it a ways to get there. Interior is pretty barren, and being so far away from the city, you don't expect downtown prices.

I eat here at least once a week for lunch, and occasionally for dinner. For lunch, while all of the sandwiches are fantastic, I usually go with the river salad/fish of the day combination. If Rhett has the smoked salmon special, it makes for an unbelievable fish sandwich. I'm not a fan of the fish tacos, but only because they cook them with rice. You may also want to ask for the sauces on the side -- at times they use more than I would prefer.

The restaurant is configured with a row of tables in the front, and deep booths in the rear of the restaurant. I always ask for a booth, and wait for one if necessary, since the tables at the front are very close together, and share a bench seat. Reservations are a good idea thurs/fri/sat.
