We eat out a lot, and despite having hundreds of restaurants here in town, we have trouble finding a place that isn't too fussy or pretentious (why, Charlottesville??), has great food, outside seating, and takes reservations -- so many places in town won't take them, so it's a gamble on how long you'll wait once you get there. We've been here a few times now, and have always enjoyed friendly service and fantastic food - there are a wide range of tastes on the menu, and there's definitely something for everyone. Very pleased to see the menu change a bit with each visit, too - a lot of great places in town start running on autopilot and lose their appeal. Not sure why another reviewer mentioned a limited menu! Don't miss the mussels on the appetizer list, they're unique and made with saffron mustard sauce that we wanted to eat with a spoon! Last night we happened to be there for a live music night, and were thrilled - we got to listen to great music on a beautiful night outside, and could still easily hear each other. We'll be back often!

My wife and I ate here last night and it was terrific. The food was very good. We had the pizza and an appetizer, both were delicious. They had an extensive drink list, but a limited menu, which is the only reason I didn't give it a five. Great outdoor patio! Overall, a worthwhile stop for dinner in C'ville.

Charlottesville has some delicious places...we have our favorites, in every price range. Dinner last night with all ages - 72,48,15,12 - was lovely for all of us. Presentation of food was terrific, it's obvious they care about the food, and that is a great start. Artisan pizzas looked great -though we opted for scallops, tuna, & veal. Each entree has a perfect accompaniment, and it was just enough! 2 of us chose apps for entrees - exactly what we wanted, generous enough to satisfy a lite appetite. Pricing for Cville was really good, it's now on our fave list for moderately priced dinners - our bill, albeit no real apps or desserts, was $68 for 4,and we ALL left happy. The spicy slaw under the tuna was AMAZING.

We had a fabulous meal at Threepenny on Aug 12. The grilled
Calamari was unusual and wonderful. The petit filet mignon was tender and tasty, enhanced with a rich, dark sauce that made it even more delicious. The staff was friendly and our waitress was helpful and attentive. We will be returning and enthusiastically recommend it.

We stopped in one Saturday evening on the way back to our hotel for drinks and to enjoy the band. We had such a great experience we decided to come back the next day for Brunch. Brunch was nothing short of AMAZING! I had the Norwegian Eggs and my hubby had Steak and Eggs. The "side" of maple / bacon grits was a marriage made in heaven! Best Bloody Mary I think I've ever had! Would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Cannot wait to go back for Dinner!
