We've stayed at a few places on Chincoteague. We picked this one because we needed a house that could fit 2 families (9 people). Fairly recent construction with some nice amenities like an elevated screen porch (good for catching the evening breeze and avoiding the bugs), modern kitchen, open floor plan and a loft that provides one big bedroom for the kids (5 small beds) to have their own space. Also a shallow canal running behind the house where the kids can have fun catching crabs or you can take off into the inner bay on your kayaks or boat. Missing a bit of that 'island vacation' vibe because you're surrounded by what is essentially a suburban neighborhood. About 1.5 miles into town by car, about 2.5 to the gate of Assateague Island National Seashore. Definitely some better values around Chincoteague for what you're paying to rent this property, and most definitely some more atmospheric ones, but you could also do a lot worse.
