This was our first family trip to Chincoteague...I had been before on a day trip...but my son wanted to see the ponies so we decided to spend our vacation on the island. There are a couple of newer and higher priced "resort" hotels on the island but we like to support the local community where possible. We were not disappointed! The hotel is older but very clean. The staff sweeps the walkways and pool area daily, the bedding is always fresh and the towels are plentiful. The rooms are a good size and have comfortable furniture. The cleaning staff was friendly and greeted us each morning like family. Its also nice and quiet at night with a few people strolling the dock and pool areas but no loud parties...perfect for families! We loved hanging on the dock each evening, where we got to know a few other families and cheered when the kids caught crabs or someone landed a fish. My son loved it there so much, we stayed an extra day!
