Dons is the place in Chincoteague if you are looking for reasonably priced and pleasant dining. If you eat on one side of the restaurant you have a great view of the bay and a fine perch for sunset dining, on the other side you can watch the village of Chincoteague on parade. I am a homeowner in Chincoteague and often have eaten at Don's. It is basically good diner food. The portions are large. The Flounder is fresh, as is the other sea food, the watermen dock at the edge of Dons Property and the owner has an aqua-lculture business. That means fresh seafood and the middleman is cut out. The drinks are strong. The staff is competent and pleasant. The soups are good. If you are looking for fresh vegetables or a candle lit nouvelle cuisine - go elsewhere. It is clean and tasty. Dont miss out on the mac and cheese on a side - and the dinner rolls are delicous. They have pie and smith island cake for dessert, if you have room after the entree and sides. The salad bar is nothing great, but it always features two of Don's soups. This is well worth a stop and well worth the wait (as there is often a line).
