We had an efficiency. Perfect for us. very clean. Everything we could have wanted in a quiet getaway. Nice pool. Walking distance to shops. Dishes provided. Microwave and coffeemaker. Bring your own coffee though. No problem with that. Full-sized refrigerator.

Spent Fourth of July weekend and it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The grounds are very well kept. Flowers are beautiful. Our room was an efficiency with stove top, refrig, microwave and everything to go with it. Housekeeping staff is outstanding. There is a summer kitchen if you want to grill, along with tables to enjoy a picnic. Pool is very clean. We have stayed in Hilton's, Sheratons, etc. and I must say the bathroom in this unit, while it is small, is over and above much better than the large chains. We will be back.

We went to the Sea Shell for a quick weekend stay and as always - front desk was super helpful and our 3 room apartment was clean and inviting. The owners are always working on this property, planting flowers, maintenance, etc. We will be back in August for a whole week!

We made a last minute reservation for one of the house rentals --- we didn't know what to expect when we got there but found that the house was as described, very clean, and a great deal for the money. There had also been a water leak in one of the bedrooms (the house was over 100 years old - what do you expect?) but that was swiftly fixed with new sheets; nothing to get upset about. The furniture, etc. was a bit dated but it suited our needs in terms of space and amenities.

We ran into a problem the next morning when we realized that the fridge was not working (we noticed it was warm the night before but figured it had just been turned back on and was cooling up). We lost some juice, cheese, and ice cream --- no big deal but we reported the problem to the cleaning lady that came by (we didn't expect to have cleaning of the house during our stay!). We saw it as a minor inconvenience but nothing to ruin our trip.

The response of the hotel is what earned my 5 star review --- within 30 minutes, we had a dorm fridge delivered plus a gift card to a local ice cream shop for our troubles. We went about our day just to come "home" to another surprise --- the owner had heard of the problems we had had and decided to give us an incredible discount on the price, far beyond what we would have expected or asked for for such minor issues. He cited the graciousness of our response, but we saw it more as the pride and care that the owners have for customer service and satisfaction. We need more businesses like this in the world!

We will definitely recommend this place and plan to visit again; to know that there are people that care that much about their guests is the kind of places we want to stay!

This is a nice place to stay. The Hotel Staff is friendly and the room was clean. I asked the maid if they have a microwave in the main office and minutes after somebody was knocking at the door to deliver a microwave, haha, that was nice. This place is located close from main street, so, I think it was a good choice. God bless!

We were on a motorcycle trip traveling without reservations and pulled into Chincoteague on a Friday night. There were no rooms at the chains or the nicer inns. A lady at the Waterside (I would recommend staying there since she was helpful), helped us secure a room after calling 5 places. She said the Sea Shell had been family owned for years and was a nice property. She was right, it was a nice older motel style property that has been kept up. The room we had was large with two double beds, kitchenette and decent bathroom. It was very clean. I would have driven past this property had it not been recommended. So if you need a place to lay your head and would like a little more room, this is the place. Front desk staff very helpful. Paid $80, good value for Chincoteague. Beds could be more comfortable, but a decent basic stay in you are on a budget. Walking distance to Bill's restaurant...best meal out of 9 days, go there, too. I would consider staying here again on our way through.

We always stay at the Sea Shell in September when the rates go down. It is always clean and friendly. The rooms are standard beach motel, no frills and not luxurious but always comfortable with fridge and coffee. You cannot beat the location as everything is within walking distAnce. Really nice flowers too.
