Owner description: Captain Barry'sBack Bay Cruise is an INTERACTIVE skill building experience. We are a floating classroom, a research vessel with HANDS-ON FEET-WET lessons. One of the many things we do is get off the boat on the sandbars to go DIG IN THE MUD FOR CLAMS. Maybe we can catch some to eat. Then it's back on the boat to cruise to a crabbing spot where you will Pull CRAB-POTS on board to identify and see the days catch. If you have the courage I will teach you how to HOLD A CRAB without getting pinched. Navigating our way to Shell Island Beach, we stop and get off the boat for some SHELL COLLECTING than back on the boat for Capt. Barry's favorite activity... hunting for jellyfish. we will then HAUL in the trawler net and will see that it is full of Marine life and sea creatures.... this is always a challenge! Time to slow the boat down to enter the shallow waters.... how many birds can you identify? we use all of our senses-SOUND,TOUCH,TASTE and SMELL- to make our cruises informative and fun. They are is never any pressure always lots of fun.. you can relax, sit back on the boat and be the official photographer, or you can get into it. This is the real deal to get your hands dirty and feet wet so you will experience the life of a Chincoteague Waterman.

Our family of 4 had an absolute blast with Captain Barry! If you have a couple of hours in Chincoteague, this is the best way to spend it. There is something for everyone of all ages, and you really come away with a deeper appreciation of all the natural beauty around you, and you'll have a lot of fun while you do it. Our kids, 8 and 10, were hesitant before we got onboard but it didn't take long for Captain Barry to get them excited and engaged. A unique, hands-on, educational, entertaining and memorable experience!

We had such a great time on this cruise. Captain Barry was awesome and we felt relaxed the moment we stepped on the boat. He was great with our kids, giving them such hands on experiences and memories to last a long time. Even our baby had fun watching the waves splashing as we zoomed around the bay. We got to fish, catch some baby crabs, watch laughing gulls nesting in the marsh, collected shells and even tried oysters! What a great experience. Would highly recommend. Definitely not like any tour I"ve been on before.

We did a morning cruise with Captain Barry and had a blast! Everyone got there half an hour early so he decided to take us out right then, extending the time of the cruise. Captain Barry was brimming with energy and enthusiasm and brought us into the wetlands area to teach us a bit about the wildlife. Among other things, we got to see some seagull nests, step out onto a small island and learn about crabs, and eat oysters fresh out of the water. Captain Barry kept things moving and made sure the include everybody. I would highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend Captain Barry’s Boat tour! Captain Barry is very considerate with kids! Me and my daughter came to Chincoteague island to spend the Farther’s day. My daughter loves this boat tour! We did fishing, crabbing, checking on seagulls’ nests, so much fun! My daughter plays with little fiddler crabs, little silver fish, little stripers, Minnows, blue crabs, etc.. We had a very very enjoyable 2 hours! Loves it!! Strong recommendation!!
