We stayed one night while doing college visits in the area. The hotel was easy to access and is surrounded by a range of restaurants & stores. The room was the classic Microtel style and in very good condition. I'll never understand Microtel's full wall mirrors; I guess it makes the room look bigger, but mostly it gave us the giggles as it reminded us of a budget honeymoon suite. The beds were comfortable and bathroom was clean. As usual, there aren't many frills at Microtel with no minifridge or microwave and a minimal breakfast, but it worked for us. Overall a great bargain for the area.
On a college tour with the family and needed a hotel near Virginia Tech. The Microtel is only 3 miles down the street. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is OK (lots of carbs), the beds were comfortable, the room temperature was nice and the price was great, BUT, don't stay near the elevators. There was a door next to them that must have slammed shut 10 times during the night.
I would stay here again in a heart beat. Staff were helpful with directions. Plenty of restaurants options in the area. Starbucks down the street (since I know most of you care about that).
