We had a very attentive waitress! She came around about 15 minutes to make sure we had enough to drink. We don't like using the kiosk to pay because we feel like it takes away the personal interaction with the service and she gladly took our card. Clean restaurant like, very friendly customer service! One of our favorite places to eat

You know when you really want something and it isn’t up to par how bad it can be. Well yea. That was today. We go to this OG a couple of times a year. Went for lunch right when they were opening. The hostess was a sourpuss. She and our waitress were ESL (English was not their primary language) and that is fine if you can get it right. My food was ok and my daughter’s was wrong. $50 is too much for lunch that wasn’t worth 20. Other staff near us were also chatting shop talk and it wasn’t pretty.

Took my daughter and her friend here for lunch during a shopping day. Food was awesome, service was great, and restaurant is super clean. Had a great time, and enjoyed the food and the ambiance.

We visited Olive Garden during the week at lunch time. There was no wait. Our server was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the lasagna (lunch portion)with bread sticks and salad. All the food was very good. The restaurant was neat and clean. We will definitely visit again.

For dinner on their last night of this trip, Ben and Mrs Too opted for an old friend, Olive Garden. Their store in Christiansburg looks pretty much like all of the others, with the usual few variations. The entrance opens onto a reception podium with the bar/lounge to the right and the dining room proper extending back and to the left. A cozy booth stood vacant in the lounge, so there they settled in. A hostess brought menus and took a drink order.

Please do not be put off because we rated this as “average”. This is not because Olive Garden is run of the mill, but because the current state of the market is such that average is, in fact, very good.

There appears recently to be a continuing campaign at Olive Garden to realign the menu, so that there were a few nice items we had not seen before. Fortunately, they appear content to leave alone one of what we consider excellent touches, specifically, the dolcini. Dolcini are very delicate cups of “little sweets”, miniature desserts available in five different favors sold individually or in a group of three for $6.99. We invariably select three from the list of five and divide them one for her and the other two for him. They fit our style, influenced by our unbelievably ripe ages, to the extent that these are the only desserts we can manage after a restaurant dinner.

After Ben’s Bourbon old fashion and her iced tea we dined on chicken parmigiana and chicken with shrimp carbonara. Our dinners were tasty enough, but Ben could find no trace of bacon (or pancetta), which is a defining ingredient in carbonara entrees. Mrs Too was perfectly happy with her chicken.

Service by Lacey D. was all it should be, from drinks through the desserts. The price was right, and the overall experience most satisfactory. Ben has a spot of pity for those who would knock such an experience simply because Olive Garden is from a family of chain restaurants.
