“Comfortable and convenient retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

As a frequent B&B traveler, the Inn proved why it has been in business since the 90's. Very personable when checking in, during breakfast and upon checking out. A variety of areas for relaxation in, outside and around their beautiful property allowed us to go for a walk, play cards, sip wine on the rooftop deck etc all in a quiet setting. Our room in the farm house was very cozy, clean and comfortable. The Inn is convenient to many wineries in the area. Hayden mapped out for us three wineries and a great place to eat. All within 15 minutes from each other. It was a great time.

We had never visited a B&B before and were apprehensive at first. Hands down the experience, service, accommodations and breakfast were all amazing. We would definitely visit again!! The room was extremely clean, the accommodations for our little dog were more than suitable and the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. We highly recommend a visit to this wonderful establish and selfishly we cannot wait to visit again!!!! Enjoy your visit!!!

Room Tip: Just go! it will be worth it.

Hayden and Dick Cabell have a real treasure of a B&B with their Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm in Crozet, nestled against the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a short drive northwest of Charlottesville. You can expect a warm welcome and attention to detail in their B&B, which has spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed rooms and welcoming common areas. Relaxing conversation on the second-level deck was sparked by a starry sky and fireflies in the treetops. Deer grazed in the yard during our stay, and we caught sight of a grey fox and a juvenile black bear from the grounds. Our anniversary weekend touring presidential residences at Monticello (Jefferson) and Ashlawn-Highand (Monroe) and Charlottesville's up-and-coming old town pedestrian zone was capped by a "Starry Night" open air concert at nearby the Veritas Vineyard and a late night gourmet meal at the stellar Three Notch'd Grill. We could stay only two nights this trip, but will make plans to visit the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm again soon!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong -- All the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with private baths! The gr...

The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm was exactly what we were looking for in the Charlottesville area. A secluded and peaceful location, yet close to superb wineries and hiking in Shenandoah NP. Hayden and Dick were wonderful hosts who went out of their way to provide anything we needed, from local information to folding chairs in order to enjoy live music on the lawn at a nearby winery. We stayed in the Woodland Room which was very comfortable and offered the best views toward the mountains. The food was outstanding, freshly made and served buffet style in the dining room. Small touches were appreciated, such as the pantry upstairs with fresh coffee in the morning and other drinks and snacks throughout the day. There are several common rooms as well as two outdoor seating areas for the main house - use the upstairs balcony in the evenings to enjoy stargazing and fireflies while avoiding the bugs down closer to the grass. Stinson Vineyards is very close and has live music and a BBQ (bring food to grill) on Thursday evenings; Grace Estates Winery also has live music on Friday evenings with a spectacular mountain setting just a few miles away. The Charlottesville reservoir is at the end of the road with trailheads for SNP - be sure to take the North Fork trail to Big Branch Falls, a good hike with several river crossings. You'll need to drive into Crozet for evening meals or Charlottesville if you want more selection. Overall, we had a great stay and would gladly return.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are fairly close together but we did not hear other guests as everyone was respec...

We spent the weekend at the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm and it was excellent. The Inn is tucked away in a beautiful mountain valley with the soothing sound of a nearby stream. All the rooms are beautiful & the Innkeepers made you feel at home. Although the area seems remote & quiet you are close to many wineries, excellent dinning & downtown Charlottesville. Breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed talking with the owners Dick & Hayden. We recommend the Inn and we will return.

We had a delightfull weekend at the Sugar Hollow Inn. We were so pleased the we selected the Sugar Hollow as we explored Charlottesville. Our hosts, the Cabells, treated as is we were the best of friends!
The Inn was tastefully and functionally appointed. The country breakfast was truly beyond comparison!
We will be back! Scott K

My wife and I, both Australians in our sixties, had spent a month travelling up from New Orleans, through springtime America. The beauty of the country was a revelation to us but nothing prepared us for the the setting of this lovely place. We had become a bit worn out from our four weeks on the road and had decided we needed to stop and spend a couple of days taking a break from serious site-seeing. We found this place more or less by accident, having been tipped off to its existence at a vineyard about twenty miles away. We fed the address into our GPS with only moderate expectations but as we wound our way up into one of the valleys below the Skyline Drive, crossing a rippling stream a few times and passing through dappled sunlight filtered by overhanging green, our expectations rose and we started to panic that there might not be room for us. But we were lucky, welcomed by Dick and Hayden and shown to a lovely room with generous bathroom and filled in on local dining and other opportunities. The breakfasts were superb and the company of the other guests an unexpected bonus. And all for a very reasonable price. We spent the first day doing nothing more than reading, sleeping and talking with our interesting hosts and the other guests. And over the next couple of days we did some modest exploring. It was the perfect place for us to recharge our batteries and we would have stayed longer if we could have. And I don't think we once locked the door of our bedroom - it just didn't occur to us. We would unhesitatingly recommend this perfect place.

Room Tip: We got to see all the rooms and they all looked good to us though there was a sign in the little ki...
