This 1800's mansion near the downtown shopping area of Culpepper has much to offer. Great hosts (a lovely family), delightful and beautiful breakfasts. Many spaces to just sit and 'be' as well as very private spaces. Lots of books to 'grab' for an evening read.

Room Tip: We choose the room that includes a large bed and a single bed.

I've stayed at Fountain Hall for nearly a year and have been so comfortable and so well taken care of. Business has taken me to Culpeper every week and after trying several motels there, I was fortunate to find this accommodation for my home away from home. Week after week, the hosts were welcoming and accommodating and the B&B is lovely. Beautiful yard with porches, antiques, and breakfasts to meet dietary needs. Thank you Steve and Kathy for your hospitality.

Room Tip: Rooms have different amenities so they will help you choose what you prefer. Personal AC/ heat syste...

It's a great old house in good condition with antiques. Don't use the front entrance, try the side. We had the Butler room with its impressive looking bed; it was comfortable. There was plenty of room and there was a nice private patio looking to the large backyard. The breakfast was semi-scheduled. While the breakfast was continental, the croissants were amazingly good, and baked by the owner. There are other beautiful homes in the neighborhood and we were walking distance to downtown restaurants. We tried the Thai restaurant in the Culpeper hotel and that was impressive; I love their panang.
BTW, the B and B towels were very nice; not those stiff smelly white ones; real towels.

House was originally built in 1859 as a large Victorian house. In the 1920's it was renovated, enlarged and remodeled in the Greek Revival style. All six rooms have 10 foot ceilings and private baths. My bed had an excellent mattress. There are three common rooms. The back yard is expansive with beautiful trees. The house sits in a historic district with other large beautiful homes. The house is just a few walkable blocks from the local Amtrak Station. Daily train service to Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Alexandria, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philly, New York and Boston. The area around the station has many fine restaurants and unusual upscale shops on tree-lined streets. Less expensive options are just a few blocks farther away.

Room Tip: There is one room on the ground floor.

We had a delightful two night stay at Fountain Hall. The property is immaculately maintained and the grounds are perfect. I was a bit disappointed and surprised by the condition of the towels in our room. The towels themselves were faded and worn, and neither the used towels or wet washcloths were replaced with fresh towels for day two. Considering the attention the owners pay to details in other aspects of the inn, this would be an easy fix. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a delightful stay and would have loved to have stayed longer. Our room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The Walker's have a ton of DVD's you can watch, if so inclined, and an abundance of books as well as very comfortable common rooms. Steve knows - it seems - *everything* about the area and can acquaint you with the character of all the restaurants -- which are just a few minutes walk away. After a nice evening and a great rest, we arose to a wonderful breakfast with great croissants and fresh fruit -- among other goodies! We'd love to stay there again!

We spent last night at Fountain Hall and were extremely glad we did. Our room, The Chelf Room, had a very comfortable bed, a private porch and a Jacuzzi bath tub. The freshly made croissants and fresh fruit for breakfast were delicious. Thanks Steve and Kathi Walker for a wonderful respite!
