“Perfect Stay”

This is an amazing property. They are very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. The location was just perfect. We are going to go kayaking the next time we stay. We will definitely be staying at this location. Just perfect.

The rooms were attractive and there was a big claw foot tub, plus a shower in the shared bathroom. Some rooms have their own bath, but I stayed in off season, so I only had to share with the friends who came with me. The inn is right on the river, so bring your kayak or tubes. It is a short bike ride to the Virginia Creeper trail if you want to ride down to Abingdon, or you can get a shuttle to Whitetop Mountain. The breakfast AND Chef Jenny are GREAT!

Room Tip: I stayed with 2 friends and there is a room with a double plus a twin bed. Splitting it between us m...

My wife and I were running an ultramarathon in the Blue Ridge Mountains and stayed in Damascus the night before the run began. The house was very quaint and cozy. Its location along a gentle creek/river was beautiful. The owners were kind and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us. Although most of us didn't touch the meats, there was plenty of home cooked food to fill us before a long trek. The room was fine although my wife struggled with the concept of the communal bathroom.

We stayed in the lower level bedroom (with the private bathroom). Really nice appointments, well kept . . . it was apparent they had tried to think of everything to make a guest comfortable (even bathrobes in the bedroom for guest use).

We did have difficulty finding the B&B (don't use a GPS or ask the local bike shop--neither were of much help)--just find the address on a map and use the old-fashioned way of getting there.

We also had trouble getting on the internet (the hosts were very helpful, but neither our iPhones or iPads could connect).

Beautiful yard and accommodations for guests on the porch and down by the river.

We would definitely return!

Room Tip: The lower level bedroom is the only one with a private bath . . .

Ms. Ginny has created a warm cradle of hospitality in the heart of the small town of Damascus that will make you feel like you've arrived at grandma's house. Her historical Victorian home, built in 1904, is large, spacious, and authentic as she has been in this house for many years and the rooms are perfectly appointed for a weekend getaway. There's a wrap around porch, a gazebo, plenty of quiet seating and hammocks down by the creek that ensure that you have plenty of room to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the mountains of Virginia. She is kind, and hard working, and is very accommodating to her visitor's needs. We arrived quite late Friday night for check-in and called her to let her know when we would be arriving. She was napping on the couch and when we arrived, and showed us to our room which was prepared in advance for us.

There are 4 rooms available to rent, but only one has a private bath which is downstairs. We booked the fireplace room upstairs with the shared bath and it worked out fine sharing with the few other couples that stayed in the rooms upstairs. My wife wasn't totally comfortable with the "sounds" as we had an adjoining door to the bathroom from our room, but with earplugs, you can avoid the "tinkling brook" of the morning routine of fellow travelers.

Breakfast! The reason I booked two nights was to get two mornings of Ms. Ginny's breakfast. We could have driven up early Saturday, but it was not a meal to be missed. Homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, Cheese grit casserole, fresh fruit, gravy, sausage, bacon, jams and jellies, prunes, danishes and donuts. It was a good thing the Creeper trail didn't require much peddling as it was hard to move after that much good food. We left Sunday morning after breakfast and skipped lunch because we just weren't hungry yet.

Saturday night we brought a bottle of wine to enjoy creek-side and I asked Ms. Ginny if I could borrow a couple of wine glasses. She said, "If you're going to enjoy some wine, let me make you a cheese plate with some crackers to go along with it." Before I could tell her I didn't want to be a bother, she had a plate with several kinds of cheese and crackers, a corkscrew and two glasses. She is the personification of hospitality and she enjoys doing it. Her grand-daughter was there Saturday and was an absolute doll and very happy to help her grandmother with the cooking.

You can't help but feel at home at the Lazy Fox and I look forward to returning again soon. The location is just a block off the main street in town and after parking the car at the Lazy Fox, we walked or biked anywhere we wanted to go from there.

Room Tip: The downstairs room is the only one with a private bath, but the bed sleeps better in the fireplace...

I can't say enough good about this place. Just like Grandma's house of yesteryear with Grandma there to take care of you. I will start with the best first: the breakfast, it was like the Thanksgiving feast of breakfasts. We had rode the VA Creeper that morning and told the shuttle driver where we were staying and he told us he heard she has the best breakfast in town and she did! The place is charming and right on the river. The beds were comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Upstairs right front facing street.

We stayed here on our second night of our journey from Texas to Maryland.. We knew we were going to be late so we called Ms Ginny to make sure that was okay, she said "honey that is fine, just Please be careful driving in the dark!" (so sweet, worried for us!) We arrived around 9:45pm and she promptly answered the door, told us to come in and finish Dancing with the Stars with her! LOL! Immediately made us feel like we were good friends coming for a visit. She then showed us to our room upstairs. It had a queen bed and twin bed, plus she brought us a roll away (for my son who is "too old" to share a bed.. 12 yr olds.. lol) The beds were very comfortable.
Bathroom was across the hall and had a bath tub and a separate shower, both super clean.

Now, for the exciting part!!! Around 5 am I started smelling heavenly goodness!! Ms Ginny (who is 88yrs old btw) was downstairs fixing the most beautiful, tasty breakfast from scratch!!! Breakfast was served at 8am. Here is what we had: pancakes, biscuits, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, gravy, eggs, baked pineapple, baked apple, quiche, diced seasoned potatoes, with hot tea, orange juice, and coffee!!! All of this was homemade. WHAT A TREAT!!! The morning we were there, two men from Ireland were staying in the other room and we convinced them to sing for us. Great fun!! We had Ms. Ginny eat with us (at our insistance), she sat down and ate a bowl of Cheerios!

Her home is beautiful and well taken cared for. It is situated right on the river with hammocks to relax in. I only hope that when I am her age I have half as much energy and ability to cook!! I hope someday we are headed back that way and can visit her again!!
