I decided to take a mini vacation and bike the New River Trail. I wanted to say in Pulaski, but no good options there. Dublin was only about 15 minutes away. This Quality Inn is standard for the Choice mid-range properties. Very nice on the outside, with clean brick, although some of the trim was rotting. The lobby was nice too, a little quirky setup, but quirky is good. The side door did not close properly. I got there at 6PM on a Monday. The clerk said it was very busy, and she would have to check if the room was ready. Really? Check in is at 4. The maid staff should have been long finished. I asked for a second floor room, but be aware, there is no elevator. The room was ready, OK, but nothing fancy. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, free wifi. It overlooked the pool area, which is completely surrounded by the hotel in a courtyard. Parking is plentiful since the restaurant next door is closed. Convenient to I-81, but there was a bunch of construction on the the interstate, so my GPS re routed me down some quaint country roads. Not much for dining in the immediate area. I ended up going to Pulaski for supper. The hotel breakfast was typical, although a bit late, with cheese omlettes and sausage patties. The computer was down the next morning, so they emailed my bill to me, and someone else's bill too (they only charged him $60 for his room). Again, the clerk mentioned how busy they were, but looking at the number of cars in the parking lot at 6:30 AM, I would say they were less than 1/2 full.
I rate hotels based on their cost to quality ratio. I paid $67 for a similar Quality Inn in NC last month. If this place had charged $60 like the other guy whose bill I got instead of $77, I would have given it 4 stars.
