“From 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. great food and service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

Harold and Cathy's is a mainstay in Dumfries! People that have worked in the area, or within 20 miles have eaten there. They advertise, "Always on the left!" as the Route 1 splits and goes around their establishment. Never a bad meal, great service, and friendly staff. The meals are more than adequate, and fast service makes grabbing lunch there even that much more enjoyable. Need somewhere to go for a healthy, fast, and tasty meal, go to Harold and Cathy's. As it is a family business that has been there for (I believe) the 1950's, you know the owner is usually there observing and smiling at his repeat clientele.

“Good food, Down Home Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2012

This is another local restaurant with good food and friendly service. Located just up the street from the entrance to Quantico Marine Base in Dumfries, you can tell it is a military town. I was up here hiking at Prince William Forest just across Route 1. The restaurant has all types of pictures and other items from past military engagements decorating the walls and even the table tops are laminated with a military decor. Seems like they have seen their share of sercivemen go through here. I love to go to these types of places. It really helps you experience the local area. We had the usual breakfast; eggs, bacon and coffee. All good. Would definitely recommend to others.

“Saturday Morning Tradition!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2012

This little cafe can be easy to miss, tucked in between a car wash and an Acts donation center, but the effort should be made to get there! The price is great and the plates are loaded with food. The menu is full of homegrown ideas such as scrapple, biscuit sandwhiches, and hash. The staff is great and have the food to the table quick, the longest wait being eight minutes or so. It is a military/public service friendly place which makes for a great environment. Make the trip to this great place!

“For a Hearty Breafast When I. The Area...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2011

...or visiting the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The place has a regular flow of customers including police (tells you about value). The food is homemade and very good. I'm a sucker for biscuits, gravy and grits when south. Usually, I suffer afterwards because of greasiness or heaviness - neither was the case here.

Service is very friendly and welcoming. After eating, I was served more coffee and "told" to stay awhile and relax.

To update past reviews: plastic is accepted, you don't pay until done, and they are open for dinner.
