This is a great spot to chill out. Nice deck area overlooking the Potomac. Great menu selection with fantastic seafood. The exterior is a little warn but inside the atmosphere is alive and staff are really helpful. Great place to rest your feet for an afternoon either arriving by car, boat or plane.

Getting to this restaurant is a bit of an adventure. You travel down a hill and across the tracks and then along a gravel road trackside wondering all the while, "is there really a restaurant down here?" There is and the exterior does not look promising! But there is a friendly greeter at a podium on the porch and lots of cars, so in we go. Inside Tim's looks like it's been decorated over time with each new décor just plopped on or next to the older décor. You can't get a look like this quickly. So let's get to the food. Because it's good and transcends the plastic ware and seasoned decorations. We each had the crab cake sandwich (hubby with slaw and fries, me with hush puppies). It's clear that this is a very popular spot. We visited on a cold spring day with a brisk wind whipping up wavelets on the Potomac. It's easy to imagine how much fun this spot can be in the summer with it's outdoor "beach" and beach bars and seating. Just offshore is the Tim's Ferry which brings in parties from boats too big to tie up at the dock. This is a fun, casual place with very good food and drink (though I don't like drinking wine from a plastic cup, even in a casual setting). Parking is tight near the restaurant and the gravel road is only wide enough for one car. Locals tend to park on the far side of the tracks and walk over to the restaurant.

The place is located right on Potomic River. Excellent view of the river and large groups welcome. Relaxed atmosphere to enjoy crab legs and other seafood dishes.

Don't let the exterior fool you. These guys do some really good sea food. Their chowder is rich and smooth. The fried calamari were wonderful. I had devilled fried crab cakes and thoroughly devoured them. Our server was helpful and attentive. This is a hidden gem (really hidden) but well worth finding. It's located right on the river shore and offers nice views.

We were in Dumfries to visit the historical Weems-Botts Museum, and afterwards went looking for a good local place to eat. We went to Tim's b/c of the tripadvisor reviews and were happy we did. We weren't so sure we'd find it when we were driving through quiet, wooded, windy roads -- but then we saw the huge red and yellow palm trees and knew we were at the right spot.

We were there on a cold, rainy March day, but we could see that it would be a fun, cool spot to hang out in on a summer day. We took a table near the wood stove to warm up and got a couple of very good dishes -- the Mulligan stew and the rock fish dinner. The meals come with plastic cutlery and cups, but we enjoyed it just the same. Our server was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the prices were fair (not great, but not bad either). We would definitely seek out Tim's again if we happen to be in the area again.
