“Oh my gosh!!!! Terrible”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

No cleaning, smelly, and anyone that thinks otherwise has never stayed anywhere nice! The bathroom was moldy, dirty and very outdated. The pictures on line are VERY misleading. Not one thing was nice about the place. The beds were worn-out the rooms have not been painted forever, the bathroom door would not close, there was a cracker on the floor when I came in. The drain in the bathroom sink was plugged. Not one thing was even ok about this place! It is not even worth going on about this junk yard anymore. Do not stay here if you want to enjoy yourself.

Room Tip: Do not stay here

Steve,
Not acceptable - Please reach out to me directly when time permits as I would like to get more details as to the room stayed in and find a suitable way to make amends for your experience.

We are a older facility and pride ourselves in the value that allows us to provide folks seeking the savings and friendly folks. But what you describe is unacceptable to me - things can break during a stay, but to find it the way you describe at check in from broken items and cleanliness levels is absolutely not acceptable and I wish to make things right.

I will hopefully speak with you soon.

Regards,
Dave.

There may be nice rooms in this motel, but we certainly did not stay in one. The room was large and fairly clean, but everything else about the room was lousy. For example: The bathroom was old and extremely rundown. The fluorescent light fixture hummed very loudly and we repeatedly had to fix the toilet (handle/flapper chain.) The television was old (no flat screen here) with poor reception. The weak WiFi signal made it impossible to access the Internet. The alarm clock made noises (with the alarm turned off) at random times and had to be unplugged. Lamps were turned on or off via screwing in/out light bulbs. Just about everything in the room was either badly worn, broken, rusty, or falling apart. Our daily allotment of linens became a humorous guessing game to see if we would have to use hand towels or bath mats to substitute for bath towels. Visitors in the adjoining room partied and could be heard all night (literally all night!) during one night of our stay, and my son attempted to call the front desk to complain - but the phone wasn't working!

I trust tripadvisor. The reviews are usually very reliable. But I cannot understand how this property receives favorable reviews. Perhaps some rooms have been refurbished. My wife suggested to me that a bulldozer should be used to begin the rehab process!

Room Tip: Inspect the room before agreeing to stay!

Having a hard time with this one.......we are far far from a perfect and shiny Select serve brand(very Far). But I am severely disappointed at this review and would like to learn more and make amends.

Please contact me next trip out so I may learn more about this and also make amends.

Thank you for sharing,
Dave C.

The hotel is easy to get to, on US50 and just 7 miles to the pentagon/Arlington cemetery.

Greeted by the friendly hotel staff in a spacious lobby. Check in was quick and easy.

The room wasn't "five star" quality but it was spacious and equipped with flat screen tv, typical furniture.

Morning FREE breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, muffins, donuts ect. All was sufficient in quantity and quality. Delicious!

They offer shuttle service to the metro.

I would stay here again. Like I said, it isn't "five star" but it wasn't expected to be. This is a great place to stay on a budget and commuting into the city is easy.

Shelet2000,

Thank you for the very nice and accurate review - I feel it truly depicts the property perhaps we should say not even 3 star as we make no illusions of grandeur here, but in the end the basics with a great price and friendly people is what we are.

I really appreciate reviews such as these as they sum it up and paint a correct picture.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share, it's means a lot as the entire team watch's for these -we hope to see you again soon!

Regards,

Dave

We stayed here 4 nights and took the Metro downtown. Clean rooms, friendly staff (Casey) who answered all my questions about getting around, riding the Metro, what to see. They offer a shuttle to the Metro which is about 10 minutes away. Take that instead of driving and parking at the Metro station ($4.75/day). The pool was not open yet. Breakfast was very good, plenty of food. Falls Church is a cool city too with some excellent restaurants - try Smash Burger a block away. Oh, one more tip - when you are coming back from DC, be sure to get on the ORANGE line, not the blue line, LOL!

Room Tip: We had a room with 2 doubles which were smaller than the Queen we are used to so we ended up sleepin...

Our Spring Break Cherry Blossom trip to the Washington D.C. was more beautiful due to the beautiful spirits who made us comfortable at Governor House Inn. We chose this inn in part because of prior reviews and in part because it promised a shuttle to the metro station. From the first greetings to the last goodbyes, the staff were all cheerfully helpful, even when they had tour buses full of students in another part of the hotel. The shuttle was even better than promised. All we had to do was announce in the lobby that we wanted to go, and in minutes Steve would be whisking us to the metro. When we got back to the metro station at the end of the day, we just called and were picked up promptly. The car stayed parked the whole time we were there. When we had one problem with housekeeping, the front desk apologized profusely and handled it immediately. The breakfast wasn't awesome, but it was sufficient and had eggs and meat every day. The Baskin Robbins on the next corner was also a positive, though JV's Restaurant in the same strip mall was a "Don't do it!" mistake. We love all of the diverse sights and activities of the D.C. area, and the Governor House Inn was a sweet resting spot with cookies at the desk and smiles on the faces.

Room Tip: We stayed in the roadside rooms close to the lobby and had no problem with noise.

Barbberry,
Thank you and my apologies for belated response, catching up after an unplanned absence.
I sincerely appreciate the review and the kind words regarding the staff! All the staff pas considerable attention to these and mentioning their names is really a big deal -Thank you.
They take these reviews so seriously good and bad - so it means a lot when folks tae the time to share.

I'm glad you enjoyed the stay -in season Steve does a great job with the Van, we keep it small to avoid additional expenses but it does mean the drivers run nonstop some days. I'm glad it's only the four hours in the morning and four in the evening -I'd worry if they were trying to do more this time a year.

Overall -Just thank you for caring enough to share the review and for staying with us! We hope to see you again next year!

Regards,
Dave C.

We enjoyed our visit to our nation's capital. Stayed at the Governor House Inn, clean rooms, close to the Metro, free shuttle service to the metro.
Good free Breakfast.
I recommend the Chinese Restaurant across the street. WOW.

Thank you for the kind words and for allowing us to host your stay!
We especially appreciate your taking the time to share the experience for others- with out some fancy wall streeted brand name to push us we truly depend on word or mouth and sites like these for guest to find us.

Also - great recommendation about the Chinese restaurant, it is outstanding despite initial appearances.

Thank you!

When we entered the room we were greated by an arctic blast sense the ac was set on it's Lowest possible setting. It was around 50 degrees. The carpet by the bathroom was wet and apparently there is a secret To turning the water on in the shower that we weren't
able to figure out. if given a choice I would not stay their again

Sorry for your disappointment, I do appreciate you sharing though as we don't want the AC left on to that extent either. While we do like our Housekeepers to leave it on for arriving guests on hot days obviously they left the setting to low on this occasion.

Thank you again for bringing it to our attention,
Regards
Dave
