“Expensive”
Reviewed 1 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Stayed there with a dog. Whilst cottages are very clean and have good appliances and utensils, some areas need addressing such as mattresses need replacing as springs are gone - didn't manage to sleep well at all because of this. Towels need to be refreshed as they are old and shabby. It's dog tolerant not dog friendly, there are lots of rules around having a dog there such as having to bring the dog to a field across the road to do their business. Only allowed one car per cottage ( we were told this after arrival with two cars for two couples). Found it to be over priced for the size and quality of the cottage - would definitely not class the cottages as luxury.

“Great Place To Stay”
Reviewed 18 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Just returned from a week staying in this cottage with friends (all of us are retired). All four of us enjoyed our stay. The cottage is spotless and has everything you could require for a comfortable holiday. There is very quiet beach just a few minutes walk from the cottage and a pub up the road serving basic but well cooked pub meals. This cottage is ideal for anyone wishing to visit the attractions of the local area. We are looking forward to a return visit next year.

“Comfortable accommodation”
Reviewed 2 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Spotless cottage comfortable beds and very helpful owners. Big TV limited wifi dishwasher washing machine and dryer. the wood burner had one of those logs that burn for 2-3 hours provided. Had to go and buy more. Easy access to the coast and near Bridlington.
Downside.... The cottage backs onto the road and people can peer straight in ( and they did ). Also the main door is clear glass no privacy when wandering around in the morning. There is now no hot tub or pool table. The courtyard is nice but there is a washing line hanging across.
We were really put off by the list of rules as most reasonable people would behave normally. No local information ( only leaflets) . To be fair the owners would no doubt have helped out with doctors, vets numbers.

“Great location, beautiful cottage, welcoming hosts.”
Reviewed 28 February 2014 for a stay in February 2014

The cottage is set in a quiet location with lovely views, the beach is only a short walk away and is visible from the bedroom windows. The inside of the cottage was decorated to a high standard and was spotlessly clean. Our hosts were very welcoming and did all they could and more to make our stay enjoyable. The hot tub/sauna and pool table are great extra facilities that our children and ourselves both made use of. We would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

“Just so relaxing …….”
Reviewed 10 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

I booked the Sea View cottage through Sykes Cottages and was very specific in what I wanted to rent for a week’s break and I was not disappointed. Sammie and Lee (the owners) have created a gem of a place and together with the main cottage and out buildings, have constructed a very relaxing place to holiday. No expense has been spared in the quality of fixtures and fittings. For example, the kitchen has a high-end 6 burner range cooker and all the appliances you could wish for. The lounge has a wood burner, quality leather sofas to complement the 46” 3D TV and blu ray player. Upstairs has a feature bathroom and bedrooms of equally high standard. All this and it’s dog friendly too which meant my 7 month Cockapoo puppy was also made very welcome. There are plenty of walks from the cottage and the beach which is only a short walk is dog friendly.

Although Barmston is a very small village, it’s only a few miles outside of Bridlington and therefore convenient to shops, restaurants (you must go to Supattra Thai restaurant, it’s the No 1 restaurant in Bridlington and for good reason) and pubs. Unfortunately, the one and only pub in Barmston, “The Black Bull” is a disgrace and the brewery should knock it down and build an establishment that is in keeping with the area. Fortunately however, there are sufficient places to eat and drink a short distance from the village so The Black Bull can be avoided.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Sea View Cottage and I will definitely be returning at some point.
