My wife and I stayed at the Flint Hill Public House for a second time this weekend. We returned because our first stay several months ago was great and we thought we'd see if it retained its charm. Moreover, we we able to take advantage of a special winter rate for a two-night stay. We were not disappointed. The room was clean and the stay courteous. The location is quiet and we found it very convenient to the wineries we intended to visit throughout the weekend. It is not a hotel or a B&B ... it is quaint and unique, offering the advantages of both ... larger room, privacy, & amenities, but a sense of warmth and charm. We ate in the restaurant one night for dinner because they had a prime rib special. We also ate in the restaurant for breakfast. Food was excellent and staff was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended for a nice romantic getaway!

We stayed at the Flint Hill Public House for five nights, and really enjoyed our stay (so much so that we extended from our original plan of four nights to five while we were there). The rooms are modern and spacious, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s dog friendly, even going so far as to have a dog menu at the restaurant. The inn is in a great location to access wineries, Skyline Drive, Shenendoah National Park, Front Royal, etc. It’s a fantastic bargain considering how much it has to offer. I’ve already recommended it to several people, and am looking forward to our next stay!

My husband spent part of his childhood living across the street from the Public House/schoolhouse. When we decided to attend his class reunion - where better to stay? Our room was part of what used to be the gymnasium. The room was lovely and comfortable. We ate several meals in the restaurant; which by the way the food is delicious. For breakfast there was no menu; we just told them what we would like to have. We rounded out our evening with drinks on the deck of their lovely grounds. It is just a short drive to Little Washington - a unique place to visit. One word of advice for your stay at the Country Inn - make sure you have the door access code with you - don't "think" you will remember it! I got us locked out before breakfast......had to traipse back inside through the kitchen! We plan to visit again and spend the weekend with some friends who did not stay there during the reunion.

We are so glad that you were able to visit the old school house during your recent visit to us, and thanks for the great review. I will pass on the the kitchen crew your comments on the food, as they work very hard to ensure all the guests needs are met and that you have a memorable meal. My husband and were looking for reasonably priced Inn that was in close proximity to the RT 211 restaurant where we had dinner reservations. We found this inn to fit the bill exactly, I loved the updated large rooms. We were graciously greeted and shown the other rooms at the Inn.

When we left for dinner the parking lot was crowded with cars, we decided we must come back and try their restaurant. We enjoyed a great breakfast the next morning and since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, he was presented with a corn muffin covered in whipped cream.

Upon checking out they mentioned that they were pet friendly in three of their rooms, next time we will bring the dog.

Room Tip: Three of the four rooms are pet friendly.

How did we choose Flint Hill? I Google mapped DC, and went out about 75 miles in each direction to find whatever town had the fewest amount of roads through it, while providing the most basic amenities with decent reviews. What we got out of our trip was a very relaxing night’s stay at a more than affordable price. There is a full menu and bar at a more reasonable price than anything the city has to offer (no surprise there). I did not leave the table hungry, and without a visit from Marvin - the chef. We really appreciated the time he took to ask us how our meals were, a courtesy so simple, yet not offered everywhere, especially towards young couples. We really enjoyed the class of Flint Hill, without the stuffy feeling that some comparable houses have. Tammy took care of us from the minute we stepped in the door, to when she lead us up to our room (The Sperryville Suite). The room was quite spacious and clean. We were told that if we wanted breakfast, to poke our head into the kitchen the next morning, and the staff would make us about anything we wanted. I found that hard to believe, but sure enough, I was able to get a full breakfast for about 10 dollars. I would recommend Flint Hill to everyone looking for an escape to a quiet B&B within an hour or so from DC.

Room Tip: All suites face the front of the building (east facing), with exception to the Washington Suite (wes...

After looking for a place to take my boyfriend for his birthday I decided to go here and am very glad I did. We stayed in the Washington suite and were very happy as it was really clean, quiet, spacious, and had a pretty view. The food at the restaurant downstairs was so good. I had the lemon chicken with the dark chocolate brownie for dessert and he had the prime rib and pecan pie. Everything was really yummy. We enjoyed it so much we had brunch there the next day. The staff couldn't have been more hospitable. The manager and chef checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our food and stay. This is my new favorite place!

My wife & I visit monthly and have never been disappointed in the quality & quantity of food and the service. My guests from out-of-state and foreign countries are always impressed. It's silly to write & talk too much just to make the 200 minimum characters!
