This Band B, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and 12 miles from Floyd, is superb...no question. Janet is a warm and welcoming hostess whose attention to detail is impeccable. The whole place was spotless, the breakfast substantial and the beds very, very comfortable. We had the twin room with bathroom and we also had sole access to the whole ground floor - piano, TV, garden, chocolates left out for us...the personal touches went on and on. We were welcomed with peach pie and tea when we arrived and given helpful directions to Floyd where we went for the Friday night jamboree - an event NOT to be missed on any account. Top marks to a lovely hostess.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

Stoney Meadow Inn was just what we needed on a recent weekend R&R. Secluded about a mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway, it sits on several acres, surrounded by forests and a small farm. Don't be deterred by the short drive over a gravel road! The two guest rooms are on the main floor of a modern, well-designed home. The owners built this lovely, comfortable home for themselves, and then decided to turn the lower floor into a B&B.

We stayed in the Master Suite: a large, well-appointed suite with a sleep number, king-sized bed; large private bath with both a step-in shower and a luxury spa tub; separate sitting room with its own enclosed porch and access to an outdoor patio. Don't be fooled by the price - we would have expected to pay quite a bit more for such spaciousness! And I haven't even addressed the hospitality of the hosts yet!

We were greeted at the driveway by Innkeepers George and Janet Nester when we arrived. The hosts offered help carrying our bags inside. After a short tour of the suite, we were treated to fresh home-made apple pie and ice cream. We especially enjoyed sharing stories about similar experiences we share as teachers.

Breakfast was just great: full country style breakfast with lots of fresh fruit as well as eggs, bacon, etc. We spent a leisurely morning reading, loving on their dog, and photographing flowers and wildlife. Truly a perfect place for a relaxing retreat.

One last observation: if you have mobility issues, this is a perfect place to go. Everything is on one level and the Nesters are alert to whatever their guests might need. Also, Stoney Meadow is located about 9 miles from Floyd, so there are no restaurants nearby. We did drive 9 miles back into Floyd to find dinner, but it was a beautiful drive through the countryside. When we return again, we'll take a picnic supper to enjoy on the back porch!

Room Tip: Both rooms are on the first floor and are easily accessible. The master suite is quite large. I believe the twin bed room is smaller. It is a very quiet place - no street noise at all - just night sounds from the woods. You can find good eateries in the little town of Floyd, but I would suggest taking a picnic supper and enjoying the back porch. Don't miss a chance to walk around the grounds. They are truly lovely.

my wife and I stayed here for two days and I can honestly say that it was the best B&B we have stayed at.Janet and George were a great couple who couldn,t do enough for you ,even giving me her cell phone just in case we had trouble finding our way back at night. The accomodation couldn,t be bettered (we stayed in the master suite)and the rate was very good .Food was also excellent, especially the home made pound cake.I hope we make it to Virginia again so that we can stay with the Nesters again.I forgot to mention "Gizz",he was a great dog

About a week ago, my wife and I spent four nights at this B&B. Our stay and experience was just marvelous, everything went perfectly and our expectations were met and surpassed in all aspects.

The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful, they provided us with useful information about places and roads, and showered us with all kinds of services and attention. Needles to say that Breakfast was just great, everyday was different and suited to our taste and needs. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit, and when my wife mentioned that she liked oatmeal, it was promptly prepared. Janet, the innkeeper, went as far as getting a special peach jam for me.

Our room was more like a suite, with a living room, a large bed, a "huge" bathroom, a porch area, and a walk-in closet. Everything was extremely clean and we had an abundance of towels and bed blankets.

Do not be put off by the fact that the inn is not right on the Blue Ridge Parkway, In fact the inn is about a 1/3 of a mile (gravel road) from the Parkway and close to 10 miles from the town of Floyd. Its location makes it very quiet and enjoyable, all surrounded by woods. On the grounds of this Inn, you will find some farm animals and even a pond full of gold fish. The innkeepers offered to let us take some with us, but unfortunately we could not do it.

There is no question that we would like to go back, and we emphatically recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Janet and George are the ultimate hostess and host. It's more like staying with old friends than a bed and breakfast. It is a beautiful location right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and an inviting and homey B & B. If you are traveling the Parkway I highly recommend you stay there. Janet made a superb breakfast and then dined with us. We were almost late leaving because we were enjoying the conversation so much.
