I still can't believe the fabulous meals served by Vino124 are prepared in a kitchen with 1 oven and 2 electric hot plates! Three of us literally stumbled onto this restaurant looking for a bite to eat after 8:00 PM on a Sunday night in Front Royal. We had the meatloaf, the crab cakes, and the potato & leek soup. Each dish was excellent! The meatloaf is the best I've ever tasted and I've tasted a lot of meatloaf in my 66 years! We were on our way home to Arlington and decided the 2 hour round trip drive would be worth it for another meal at Vino124. We will be back with more friends. Almost forgot to say that the service was great! As was their selection of wines.

We arranged to swing through Front Royal just to eat here again, as our first time was fantastic, and we were not disappointed. More amazingly, a lightning strike nearby had knocked out their computers, but they were not rattled, and still produced fantastic meals in a timely way. We had a nice bottle of Viognier for $25, a couple of very fresh and interesting salads, the quail with a white bean casserole, and the coq au vin. Very reasonably priced for such a high quality meal and Christian came by to say hello, and as usual, Brooke was charming, knowledgeable and fun. It's a great place to have a meal if you are in the neighborhood...or even if you're not.

Four wine tasters with a pooch in West Central Virginia...where the heck are we supposed to get lunch this far from Charlottesville?

Vino 124, of course.

Proprietor Christian is an excellent host, full of character and snark. We just loved this guy. We had the quail and cassoulet, red snapper, crab cake, and coq au vin. Quievremont table red and their rose made everything go down a treat.

While it took a while for the food to come, when it came we were over the moon with the quality. The bread with dipping oil is a great way to start, and we should have asked for that to begin with. It's excellent. The Virginia rose from Quievremont was ideal for a hot summer day.

If I were to return to Front Royal, Virginia, there isn't another lunch spot I'd go to. This is the place. Take your time, sit outside, and soak up the day with friends.

This was such a nice surprise! We were on a day biking trip, did ~26 miles already by noon and came upon this little restaurant that have just opened its doors for lunch. An owner, Christian, invited us to a table outside, we parked our bikes, and looked at the menu. What an unsual menu and exilaring choices (especially compared with a nearby diner and a pancake place that we have almost resigned ourselves to). We had Italian salads, a great corn chowder and superb bread with olive oil that went well with beer October Fest Weihenstephaner. The meal was filling but light with lots of herb flavors. Christian entertained us with stories, and then surprisingly plopped a fried octopus on my plate to taste. Fantastic!! The whole experience was like a breath of fresh air. We will be back soon.

My husband and I went to Vino124 for dinner last night and it was truly one of the best we've had anywhere in the world! We had a caramelized onion tart with blue cheese, fig preserves and crispy prociutto that was sublime. My crab cakes -- not the regional "Maryland" kind but more like a creamy croquette -- served on a vegetable hash was wonderful (and we are pretty much crab cake fanatics, so we are normally very critical) and my husband's salmon was equally good. Superb desserts and a calm, pretty ambiance (including nice outdoor seating) plus a very skilled wait staff -- and our meal came in way under $100 (including tip). Who could ask for more?
