“a simply stunning meal”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Definitely off the 'beaten path' and out of the way, this home adapted to a restaurant floor is exceptional. Family style seating with true home-cooking, above average service, and the atmosphere of your sweet grandmother's home. We have never been disappointed at a meal. Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for here! Take a moment before or after your meal to tour the second floor, which is maintained as a home decorated in the 1940s/ 1950s motifs. Take a couple friends here if you live anywhere between Lynchburg & Danville Virginia... worth the drive!!! Be sure to make a reservation.

“Best restaurant in the area”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

This was our first visit, but will not be the last. We had the prime rib which was very good but looked as if it had been cut for a while and re-warmed. This would have been better with fresh horseradish instead of the broth that came with it. The ribeye was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere in the old house was great. We will be back.

“Very Nice Dinner”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

I had dinner here with business colleagues on a Wednesday night and the meal was great. The BBQ shrimp appetizer is great, if pricey (about $2 per shrimp), everyone at our table liked their meals very much - I had a crab and crawfish stuffed portabella mushroom cap which was excellent - steaks and seafood were also great. Dress is from very casual to nice - you will fit in wearing anything. The setting is just lovely - an old mansion that looks like it was lived in up to the 1960's. Lovely porches and elegant rooms. Service was very friendly, but decidedly slow. Very lively on a weeknight - check schedule before dining I believe they are only open Wed through Sunday.

“Great”

Probably the consistently best food anywhere around. Especially the ribeye. Nice setting and atmosphere. I always feel like the food was prepared for me as an individual.

“LOVED IT!”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 via mobile

Tonight we had the pleasure of dining here for the first time. The food was outstanding. The service was perfect. The atmosphere fabulous!! I think the only negative for us was that some of the other families looked and acted like they should be eating at some hillbilly restaurant. I wish they had a special room for the tee shirt, beer drinking, knife licking, food stabbing crowd. I am definitely not snob but when I go out to a nice restaurant I want to be around people with very basic manners.
