Owner description: America’s oldest continuously operated show cave, voted #2 in America by Parade magazine, and a National Natural Landmark, Grand Caverns is a prime example of history and beauty. With our abundance of rare shield formations and history around every turn, come see for yourself why we are ‘Grand’.

The cavern is the fourth largest in the US and the guides are entertaining and full of facts about the cavern. We had our grandchildren with us, 4 and 6, they loved it. There as so many diverse sections of the cavern. In addition they have an auto museum containing a multi-million collection of early vehicles and luxury cars, one was owned by Rudy Valentino. For the kids there is a maze and rope jungle gym.

Grand Caverns is good if you prefer smaller crowds because Luray Caverns had a larger crowd, which doesn't mean this place is inferior. I enjoyed the Grand Caverns. I liked seeing formations that looked like animals shaped like an alligator. I am interested in Civil War history, so it was cool to see a soldier's signature from 1862 and a rock formation, believe it or not, shaped like Stonewall Jackson's face. Go to Grand Caverns and enjoy the natural formations and the history.

Stepping into underground caverns is always an adventure and the Grand Caverns do not disappoint! The 70 minute tour of this natural wonderland offers beautiful sights of intriguing shapes. One can’t help admire the folks who first explored this vast unknown! A great time was had by our whole family. Understanding he was on a schedule, we would have appreciated a little more consideration from the guide, however, as he often started talking before we could get our 90 year old father to the next spot. Beautiful!
