This hotel was a last minute pick after 12 hours of driving. The man at the desk during the evening was very nice. He booked our room and gave us the internet prices. The room was huge and very clean. The breakfast on Easter Sunday was very good and well attended to.

Room Tip: We choose a suite and it was one of the biggest suites we have ever had. I will definitely keep thi...

Stayed at the HIE Friday night March 14. A friend and myself were tired after traveling all day. We were greeted at the front desk by Brad, a nice and very helpful young man. We wanted a room on the top floor, but the hotel was filling up fast. Brad somehow was able to get that room for us. We were so grateful for that. Thank you Brad !

Our room was very roomy, comfortable and clean. Big flat screen T.V., and nice fridge and microwave.
By far the best shower ever at any hotel. Did seem to not be an exhaust fan in the bathroom, which seemed kind of odd. Very comfortable beds.

The next morning, we ventured down to the breakfast bar. Was very pleased with the selection.
The food was good also. Our only complaint was the sausage gravy, which was just barely warm. Everything else was impressive.

Would surely stay at this HIE again.

Room Tip: Request a room on the top floor.

This is a slightly above average hotel. The room was vey clean and was a nice size. The staff were very helpful and the price was average. It is a very good choice if you are in the Wytheville area and want to save some money. The room had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

This hotel serves a true complimentary hot breakfast. They have eggs and sausage along with a pancake maker. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, so I cannot comment on it.

We stopped here on a long drive down the east coast and chose it based on Trip Advisor ratings and because we've grown fond of the Holiday Inn Express amenities.

The lobby is a bit worn and could use some updating, but don't take that as a bad sign. There is a large seating area where the morning breakfast is set up and there is coffee and cookies out all day, though the coffee in the evening will be cool or cold, but you can warm it up in the room microwave.

The room itself, again could use a little updating, but it was very clean and huge by modern standards. It's obvious this is an older hotel just by the size of the room. Bed was comfortable, pillows were a little soft for my taste, but overall, we really don't have any complaints about the room. Larger refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave are included in the room. Lots of hot water in the shower and the staff was pleasant.

The included breakfast in the morning was very good, lots of fresh egg omeletes with sausage patties, biscuits and gravy along with plenty of continental type items, juice and coffee. So if you need a place to stay in Hillsville, VA, you can't go wrong with this Holiday Inn Express. They're everything you'd expect in HIE line, though it really could use some updating to be more in line with some of the other HIEs we've stayed in.

Use TripAdvisor to locate some good local restaurants as well, or simply go to the Shoney's in the attached parking lot.

Room Tip: Front of the hotel faces I-77 though it is some distance away.

My mother and I were traveling from Boston to the Atlanta area when we experienced car problems. The engine light came on and the car was dying on the highway. Needless to say, I was frazzled. My husband called Brad at the front desk who provided us with a room and assisted us with our luggage. Brad also provided the name and number of a local garage where our car was fixed. He was simply, marvelous to us. Sandy in the breakfast area was a breath of fresh air as well. We simply can't thank the staff enough for their hospitality during our 3 night stay. Great job!!

After 2 planes were cancelled/delayed for days, we decided to rent a car and make the drive from North Carolina to Ohio. We drove until we were tired and decided to stop for the night. It was very late and we were unsure where we even were or what we would find. What we found was a clean property with the nicest front desk person (Bonnie). She offered us a better rate because of our situation and also made sure we had toiletries, because our luggage made the connecting flight and we had nothing.

The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. The hot breakfast is a nice addition to it all.

If we need to stop around this area again, we will make sure to stay here.

Thank you for making our terrible situation better.

Brad at front desk was very helpful. This is an Older Express, but still nice enough. Our room was clean and appeared to have some things updated. If you are going across the Blue Ridge, this is a good place stop, close enough for a quick on and off.
Has the normal express breakfast, self serve with lots of stuff to pick from - juices, coffee, muffins and their warm cinnamon rolls . Everyone should find something to eat. TV had HDMI input so we could watch shows off our Latop. Wi-FI was OK, but don't think it's really High Speed (just normal).
Good A/C, lots of warm water.
