We visited the navigation inn after going to see family using the canal, the food was ok nothing special just average, slightly priced over for what you got, the food did take over 50 minutes to arrive and with a child was a little disappointing, and was a Tuesday night so wasn't overly busy, not sure I'd recommend to go for a meal as we had travelled from near derby and wouldn't make the journey again to the pub, the bar staff was friendly but the waitress looked fed up. The toilets did need a good clean but was nicely decorated.

We were moored on a boat at Bugsworth so headed to the Navigation for a meal Friday night. Arrived at about 7.45 to hear the landlord on the phone to the kitchen suggesting they pack up for the night because it was so quiet. On asking, he said if we ordered quickly, we would be OK.

We felt a bit rushed so just ordered a main course each, Navigation chicken (bbq sauce, bacon and cheese) with mash and peas, and steak and mushroom pie with chips and veg. Choices are "pub grub" with nothing very out of the ordinary.

Food came quickly and was fine, it wasn't fantastic, but it was fine and passed my pub test of having properly cooked, fresh and hot veg.

Pub itself was really quiet, a few people in the section with the large screen showing the UK friendly football match, for some reason with the sound down, noone else in the place although a few sat outside. Shame as there was no atmosphere, and we headed back to the boat for the rest of our evening.

Good choice of beers, house white wine wasn't great.

Room Tip: Didn't stay so can't comment

We all enjoyed the food which was fresh and well cooked however from ordering to getting our mains we waited an hour and from ordering pudding to getting it we waited half an hour. The two waitresses were run off their feet but remained pleasant throughout, the same cannot be said of the beyond grumpy barman and for that reason alone we won't go back....I like to be made welcome when spending my hard earned cash but i didn't feel this here.

The pub is lovely, and is set in a great location and is well placed for a walking, however when ordering food had to wait for nearly a an hour for food and had to go off and find staff to ask where was was our order, all I can say was food was ok nothing to write home about.

Would go there for a drink if out that way as I said the pub itself is nice just a shame about the service.

Fabulous location. Full of interesting canal related nic nacks . Food very average. We waited nearly an hour for it to arrive, with no apology for the lateness. May go in for drink again due to location but never to eat. Didnt stay over so cant comment on accomodation.

beer over priced barstaff very good the LANDLORD arrogant LANDLADY good laugh,
when booking a room you must ring at least 10 times to ensure that your booking is made and then its not writen in stone, double booking is his speciality, the rooms are still work in progres,
1 good thing to say that the breakfast is very very good even if you have to wait for it for 75 mins

Room Tip: BETTER choose a room at the spire b&b in whaley bridge
