We had 2 rooms at this hotel. Checkin and reservations were easy and friendly. The actual rooms were not good. One smelled like carpet cleaner gone moldy and the other one had an air unit that didnt work properly.

The Hampton Inn in Lexington, Virginia is situated in a lovely wooded area in the center of town and incorporates a stately old home into the hotel which presents a facility very much in step
with the feel of the town's history. The room we occupied was nice though not exceptional like the grounds are. In fact, it had appeared undusted for a few days. We were provided a big screen tv, microwave and refrigerator but, even so, the price for the room felt a bit too high.
Breakfast was only adequate and quite crowded in the small seating areas.

This very unique hotel is built around an existing, antebellum type mansion. The main part of the hotel, where check in & breakfast is, centered in the old home, with most of the rooms branching out from them.
It's not quite in the historic district of Lexington, but very close - if weather was nicer, we could have easily walked to it. Rooms were large & nicely appointed.
The breakfast serving area was tight, largely due to the fact that it is in a converted room in the main house - but the eating area was charming!

This hotel is awesome. The mansion where check in and breakfast are held is beautiful. The breakfast area is a little crowded, but we also made the mistake of going to breakfast during prime time. On the first day we ate breakfast, we sat in the main building since the outside area was full, but the second day we got to enjoy breakfast on the porch and it was great. The temperature outside was decent, and it was very relaxing. There are restaurants and stores very close by as well. We didn't get to spend much time downtown, but we drove through and I loved the atmosphere. It's a nice little town full of history. The pool was nice, but I was a little disappointed that the hot tub wasn't very hot. It was more of a luke warm tub. I can't complain about the stay though. The room was great and the hotel staff was wonderful. We had a great time.

Room Tip: I work in a hotel and the biggest complaints I get are that a guest is too close to an elevator or a...

To travel in Virginia and neighboring states is to experience Southern warmth and gentle manners. Southern hospitality is very contagious. You find stranagers actually holding the door for you. While driving, looking for that hard-to-find address, locals will stop and allow you to get in the rush hour line. Enjoy your trip.

We stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn Lexington on our way to DC. Our room was a motel-like room except that there were more amenities. The room was nice and clean, there was free internet, and there was a free breakfast (which I missed). Part of the inn, the front part which is shown in the photo, has nicer rooms which are more costly, but appear to be a whole lot nicer. Had my destination been Lexington, I would have chosen to stay in one of those rooms but we were only there for a few hours. It is called the historic part of the inn. The lobby and sitting area were quite nice.

I accidentally left my posturepedic pillow at the inn and they had it for me at the desk on our return trip. Very nice!!
