My husband and I recently stayed at the Meander as we were trying to combine business with pleasure. The Inn is a gracious, old property which depicts it's historical past. Beautiful white columns and sweeping verandas. First impressions are everything for me so the minute we walked into the main foyer I was slightly disappointed. The front room had a cluttered piano to the left and a white couch against the wall with a large stain on the front. Also, a period fireplace was in the room but was not lit to help the ambience. We wove our way through the dining area to be shown to our room which was The Colonel Fry room. It has green walls, green drapes, green chairs, green bed coverlets. Does not look like the photo online. The bathroom is dated, large and clean and has a broken bidet with a sign on it. Breakfast seating is promptly at 9:00. For the first course we each got one small bran muffin. 15 minutes later a small, warm smoothie shot with four small pieces of fruit on a toothpick like skewer. 15 minutes later ( you will have a selection of two choices) mine was some type of sausage which was over cooked and a cold quiche accompanied by 2-3 ounces of grits. This entire process was roughly an hour. Needless to say if you are anxious to get out and explore the country, skip breakfast. Our business schedule did not allow us to make any dinners therefore I cannot do a review. Oh, did I mention the barking dog in the room next to ours? Remember, this is a pet friendly inn so if you are allergic to pets or not hearing impaired this will pose a problem for you. The Inn is beautiful but needs attention. Obviously the owners are doing just enough to get by. Please remember you are obligated to purchase a dinner at the Inn during hour stay. Upon leaving, my husband politely voiced his thoughts to Suzanne about the mandatory dinner clause. As with all good business owners who love repeat customers, her response was, if people don't like it they can stay somewhere else.
