I travel a lot, but as I mentioned before, I do not write a lot of reviews, especially good ones. Kirkley has earned a great review. Room was great again, large comfortable bed, nice bathroom, sink, and features. Just an idea about the quality vs. the price: Starbucks coffee for your in room coffee maker, by being a Liberty University student, breakfast was complementary, which was a great value for what they provided. Fresh fruit, an assortment of bread, rolls, cereal, and yogurt, in addition to two well prepared warm items (like pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, biscuit and gravy, etc.). I ate dinner every night here that I could. The wait staff was extremely friendly and professional, and I'd stay here again just for the food. Great portions (not too much), and great taste and variety. The chef comes out every morning and evening and asks guests about their meals. Add the pool and gym, and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere in Lynchburg.

We came with the Run for the Wall. Was very disappointed the way our Veterans, their families & our riders were treated by the staff. I've been doing his ride for 5 years & we have never been treated this way.

Unlike chains, this hotel really makes you feel like you are special from the moment you check in until you're on the way out the door. Clean, bright, comfortable rooms with all the usual amenities without being excessive. A key for me is always the speed and reliability of Internet service. Here it's included and works like a charm. I always sleep well in the beds and the overhead shower arrangement is a treat. By the way, the breakfast deal is pretty sweet too. I am particularly fond of the french toast.

Room Tip: I have been in many (different sides and floors) -- haven't had a bad one yet.

Spent one night here on a longer trip. I would definitely use the Kirkley if I were staying more than one night. The room was spacious and comfortable. Ate both dinner and breakfast there. Wait staff was very friendly, although to be honest, I was eating late and was about the only person there so they didn't have much else to take care of. The morning breakfast buffet allows you to choose two hot items to be prepared, and then the buffet has fruit, bread, etc. for unlimited pickings. There is a nice indoor pool and a fitness room. Didn't wander in to see the fitness area, but suspect it is well equipped as the owner comes in to use it. This used to be a Hilton, and it appointed accordingly.

The Kirkley is a hotel with potential. Front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable with local fare and things to do. The room was nice (comfortable furnishings, bed etc). Found it odd that the microwave and refrigerator were hidden in the closet. One item that needs help is limiting noise from the hallway. Door seals perhaps? They're currently renovating, so hopefully when they're finished they'll live up to their potential for a nice hotel to stay at.

Room Tip: Would recommend a room not near stairwells.

We had a pleasant stay for family wedding. This is an older facility, but it was well maintained and is actually undergoing a total refurbishment. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable with quality bedding and furniture... desk and chair, flat screen TV's, dresser, corner chair, mini refrig, microwave, coffee maker, ironing board and iron. It has a nice indoor pool and restaurant which serves a breakfast buffet, that although it is not included, it's only $10/person. It also has many conference rooms if needed. Access is easy in and out of the parking lot, with parking all around the building.

Room Tip: We like to have a room with two beds so we can "spread out" or just have a place to put ou...

We stayed here as part of a veterans' cross-country motorcycle ride. The hotel was aware of the fact that we were motorcyclists when they booked us.

Our first problem was their unwillingness to allow someone to check in another rider unless both names were on the reservation. This is SOP at all hotels we stay at, including a very nice, new hotel in Phoenix which was new to our group.

We ordered a pizza to be delivered by a well-known, nationwide company, then changed into our pj's in anticipation of our pizza. What we got instead was a very brusque call from the front desk stating that we had a delivery and needed to come to the front desk to pick it up. To add insult to injury, they lied & said it was the pizza company's policy (which I verified with said company was NOT true!). So back into our street clothes to get our pizza.

Last but not least, when 2 of our folks asked if the courtesy van could take them to a laundromat two miles away, they were told no...no explanation given, and the van sat parked for the 12 hours we were there. Apparently their "courtesy" does not extend to motorcyclists.

Next time we will take our business, and our money, elsewhere where it is appreciated....and where the collective service to this country represented by this group is also appreciated.
