“If you don't adore this inn, then stay home”

The innkeepers of The Carriage House exceeded every expectation we could have imagined. Our needs were anticipated and graciously provided. The gourmet breakfasts were exceptional and we relished our conversations with owners Kathy and Mike Bedsworth afterward.

The house has been restored as much as humanly possible to the bygone era of the original owners in the 19th century. The furnishings are exquisite, yet modern amenities such as sleep number beds and WIFI are tastefully integrated.

Our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The R. T. Watts room, where we stayed, has a kingsized bed, which is a requirement for us. It was a...

I am always amazed when staying at a B&B at the not-so-subtle differences between large hotel chains and B&Bs. This experience was no different for me - excellent quality, charming owners, beautiful furnishings, and excellent food! You would be hard-pressed to find a better place to stay in Lynchburg, VA.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are excellent choices!

What a perfect bit if serendipity it was for us to come across the site for the Carriage House Inn B&B while searching for the perfect place to elope! My fiancé and I had looked online at hotels, inns, B&Bs and so many possible places in Virginia to stay. We were looking for a beautiful, relaxed setting in which to spend 5 days, during which, we would get married. After all of the research, we both agreed that the Carriage House had that special something. Other than deciding to get married, this was our second-best decision!
I’m not quite sure if I can put into words the wonderful time my new husband and I spent there. It will forever remain one of the most beautiful and memorable times of my life, not the least of which was due to the innkeepers. To say that Kathy and Mike pay strict attention to detail is an understatement. They made sure that every part of our stay was just perfect. Perfect!
When I called to make the reservation, I asked Kathy if there was anywhere around the inn that would be a good place to hold a tiny wedding ceremony (just the bride and groom) Kathy generously offered to let us get married there at the inn! We were surprised, excited, and grateful. She offered to arrange for the wedding day, a small cake, my bridal bouquet, and the groom’s boutonniere, and with gratitude we accepted the offer. She emailed us a list of a few celebrants in the area for me to contact, which we did. She also sent us a list of local restaurants and when we’d made our choices, she made the reservations for each dinner.
The inn and the grounds are outstanding. The work done by Kathy and Mike to bring the house to its previous glory as in the days of the Watts family is impeccable. The antiques, the décor, the setting, each and every room was a joy to discover. The breakfasts were exceptionally planned and prepared. We looked forward to them each morning as yummy foundations to start the days, and an opportunity chat with the other guests and the innkeepers.
Everything was perfect when the wedding day arrived. We had chosen the veranda on the front of the house as the background for the ceremony. Kathy and Mike arrange the furniture and décor for us. Mike actually took photos and a video of the event for us! Talk about going above and beyond!!! Kathy had chilled our bottle of champagne. After the vows, they brought it, champagne flutes, and the cake outside to us, and then retired inside to let us to savor the moment.
Days later upon checkout, they presented us with a most thoughtful and creative gift…. Kathy had taken our empty champagne bottle, thrown it in her kiln (of course she has a kiln!) and flattened it into a sweet little cheese tray as a memento of the wedding day.
We will forever treasure the memories of our time spent at the Carriage Inn B&B, and be grateful for the experience Kathy and Mike helped us to create. We will return for anniversaries, and already look forward to seeing them again. You can count of wonderful remembrances should you choose a stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed in the RW Watts room, just delightful!

Mike & Kathy spend 4 YEARS restoring the home to its grandeur and it shows! Each of the huge bedrooms (12 ft. ceilings) has its own (coal burning) fireplace made of beautifully carved wood. Our 4 poster bed was comfortable with a sleep number mattress. Because it was graduation weekend, the rooms were sold out and we all ate breakfast in the carriage house, out back. They served lovely buffet breakfasts including sausage, fruit smoothies, quiches, etc. One morning we had to leave early, so Mike & Kathy fixed us our own breakfast an hour before everyone else. :) I reserved our room 11 months in advance & was glad I did. Kathy graciously made our dinner reservations at Shoemaker's Grille for us in January, as well.

This is a very lovely, historic home worth the trip. House has been painstakingly restored. Beautiful wood & staircase. Our room was enormous as was the bath. Rooms furnished with era-appropriate antiques. Mike & Kathy run a great inn. Yes, Mike, you do everything right! Be sure to relax on the front porch AND by the fishpond. Very tasty breakfast. Also we were fortunate to meet the previous owners. Neat place to stay while touring this beautiful area of Virginia.

Every year my wife and I meet college friends at a B&B to catchup, reminisce, and eat. We found The Carriage House on Trip Advisor and made reservations for last weekend. Kathy and Mike are wonderful hosts. They were welcoming, helped us with choosing a restaurant, and served two great breakfast.

A beautifully restored old mansion with gorgeous furnishings in easy reach of historic downtown Lynchburg. Kathy and Michael went out of their way to accommodate our every need. We stayed for 11 nights with a different four course breakfast every day. We enjoyed the daily bulletins with different chocolates every day and loved relaxing on the wrap around porch. Lovely friendly helpful hosts. By far our best overnight experience ever.
