“Best B&B in Lynchburg!”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

We don't normally rave over B&Bs but feel we need to really tell others about Federal Crest! Between Phils' expertise about the attractions concerning the civil war and Anns' awesome gift of hospitality, Federal Crest satisfied all of our criteria for Bed And Breakfasts! Our room was very comfortable, the breakfasts were amazing, and we left Lynchburg feeling as though we have new friends in Lynchburg, Virginia. We highly recommend Federal Crest Inn to anyone looking for a special place to stay while visiting the area.

I was struck by the sheer beauty and detail that was put into this beautiful Bed & Breakfast. Our hosts Phil and Ann Ripley went all out to ensure that we had everything that we needed and we dined for breakfast as if we were royalty. Thank you for remembering all of the details and making us feel like family! I felt very relaxed and enjoyed looking around at all of the beautiul antiques. It really made you feel like you stepped back in time and we woke up very refreshed and relaxed. We really appreciated all of the extras and your wonderful hospitality!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Dogwood and it was a gorgeous room!!

One of the best Bed & Breakfast Inns in America.

The hosts, Phil & Ann, were so welcoming to their gorgeous inn.

We stayed in the Magnolia room which was delightful and decorated beautifully.

The breakfasts were so delicious and we enjoyed meeting other guests.

The inn is in the historical district of Lynchburg and it is a great location as we visited several historical sites while there.

Room Tip: We chose the Magnolia room because it had a sitting room.

I stayed at the Federal Crest Inn while passing through alone on a road trip. Everything about my trip was fantastic from my greeting to my amazing breakfast in the morning. I happened to be the only guest there that night and enjoyed a relaxing cup of tea on the veranda when I arrived. Ann (one of the owners) was just amazing! The Inn was clean, well maintained and I would have enjoyed having a few more nights to stay. I would definitely recommend Federal Crest to anyone passing through.

Stayed four nights in this BEAUTIFUL Bed and Breakfast. The home sits on one of the many hills in Lynchburg, just a short drive away, or walk if you wish, from historic downtown Lynchburg. The house is grand and beautiful from the outside, very nice yard. Our host were Phil and Ann, the nicest and hospitable people you will meet. You will be welcomed in a wonderful, warm, entry with a grand staircase, cookies and drinks waiting. Our room was the Dogwood, with adjacent Birdnest located on the second floor, looking over the front yard. The rooms were exquisite, clean, and roomy, furnished with antiques. The meals, different each day, were done with a touch of class (flowers, fine china, crystal, and silver). Phil and Ann will bend over backwards to make your stay as perfect as possible, know the area very well and can give suggestions. Thank you Phil and Ann for a wonderful stay. We will be back, definitely.

I travel quite often and have seen many hotels domestically and internationally and none of them have felt like home. Whenever I travel to Lynchburg, VA I always stay at the Federal Crest Inn because it does feel like a home away from home. Ann and Phil are not only two of the best hosts you’ll find these days, but they feel like longtime friends. The location is in the heart of the historic district and close to so many amenities downtown.

Room Tip: Ask for the Magnolia, it has a sun room.

Being a well seasoned business traveler and creature of habit, I almost always stay at a Marriott property. I was not able to stay at one on this trip and was a little leery of a B&B. I am now convinced that the only place to stay in Lynchburg is the Federal Crest B&B. The Ripley's are as gracious as anyone I know. B&B, home, bedroom/bathroom and breakfast was wonderful. Too many little extras to mention...

Room Tip: walking distance to restaurants
