Stopped at Southwind Pizza on our way to Inn at Tabbs Creek B&B. It gets busy on summer weekends so be prepared to wait a little bit for a table but it's worth it. Nice craft beer selection to choose from while you're waiting or once your get your table. Chef custom made a traditional Greek salad for our party of 6 to share. I had the Tangier Island pizza which was delicious. The staff checked in with us often to see if we needed anything. Food and service were excellent for this little small town gem.

This our first time to eat here (after 4 earlier tries). Their hours are not every day of the week. The atmosphere and wait staff were informal, welcoming and friendly. There is a wide choice of eats, including pizza. Their (no hormone) burger was a meal in itself and the Ms. made a meal of their crab bites, which she reported were delicious. This will not be our only visit!

This place is a little jewel in little Mathews, VA. We came for the Tour de Chesapeake bike rides. Ate there both Friday night and Sunday lunch. Delicious Mediterranean Salad and Barbecue Chicken Pizza on Friday night. We ate outside on the porch which was delightful. The service was excellent. Our waitress gave us both types of dressing available for the salad which was great. On Sunday for lunch, I had the seafood alfredo pizza which was outstanding. We'll definitely be back again next year.

As a Mathews Co. resident, we eat in Southwind frequently. While the small size of the restaurant and kitchen can cause some waits, there's always a familiar face to talk with. As long as you go in on a crowded night not expecting to be in and out in 30 minutes, you should be fine. The owner greets you, is always willing to accommodate special dietary needs or desires, is enthusiastic about bringing in special beers and wines his patrons would like to see on the menu. The food is as fresh and as locally sourced as he can get. He patronizes not only the local farmers, but our small town, locally owned grocery store. Big kudos for this. He kept the pizzas and popular menu items the fun, successful prior owners offered, while adding delicious Greek dishes. Was there yesterday for a lunch meeting and he brought out samples of the turnip soup for us to try. Turnip soup...are you kidding? No, he wasn't. It was DELISH! Staff is attentive, prices are reasonable. So many reasons to love Southwind.

Our family of six adults ate dinner here two nights in a row during a recent vacation stay at Tall Pines by the Bay in nearby Hallieford. The service was great and the food very tasty - enjoyed fried oysters, roasted locally grown asparagus, and several of their specialty pizzas, a couple with gluten free crust and also gluten free beers available! Be sure to stop in!
