My husband and I were looking for a last minute camping weekend and we decided to book the Cliffview Campground the Wednesday prior to the Friday arrival 6/29/12. We drove up Friday afternoon and when we got there it was not at ALL what we were expecting. The campground was fairly hard to find, not a lot of signage to get you there. When we arrived we were surprised it was connected to what looked like a public park. We got out of the car and decided to walk through the campground before unloading anything. We got to our site and there was a large family and quite a few "suspicious" looking people (not with the family) loitering around in the site we reserved and the one next to it. The site was also littered with bottles and cigarette butts, really disgusting. Needless to say we left and found great accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express in a nearby town. We will not be returning here. We thought it would be a good time since we have been to the New River Campgrounds on the North Carolina side quite frequently, didn't think it would be that different. Proof that all campgrounds are not created equal.
