Description: Here at the Harvest Table Restaurant we are dedicated to our local community and it makes a difference you can taste! We source most of our food from within our own regional community, dealing with over 75 local farmers and growers we are proud to know and call by name. We also have our own farm that supplies our produce needs. We are known for our dedication to locally grown food, and the delights of seasonal eating. Operating a modern restaurant with a commitment to local foods requires rethinking how a menu operates. In most restaurants, the chefs design the menu and order food appropriate or necessary to make the menu work. Our approach is precisely the reverse-- to start with what's fresh and available and design the menu choices from that. Many items we serve in one month or season are not necessarily available in another season, so the menu changes, and tracks the best of what each season has to offer. Come on in and experience the difference for yourself!

“Again and Again”

This is a perfect place with great food. While certainly not on the main path, it is a must stop place for lunch or dinner. With family or friends yes. For a business lunch yes.You cannot go wrong so stop what you are doing and leave now to enjoy a great meal. Learn the story of the establishment while you are there. Be thankful and if it is out of your way relax and enjoy. Hmmm. Eat outside if you can.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

Harvest Table is a place you do not want to miss--although it may be hard to find. We happened upon it several years ago on a trip to Abingdon and counted the days until we could return. Luckily we were able to do so recently and enjoyed the same satisfying dining experience.

What sets it apart are the freshness of all ingredients and the chef's ingenuity. My husband ordered the pizza special--Salad Pizza--which was sublime, The focaccia crust was soft yet crunchy--with a satisfyingly yeasty taste. The ingredients--lettuce, caramelized onions, garlic scapes, parmesan cheese were totally delicious. Every bite was good--all the way to the end. My cream of mushroom soup was velvety smooth and loaded with fresh mushrooms in every bite. Perfectly seasoned with herbs it was an excellent choice for a light appetite. The garden salad ingredients must have been picked that day because all were up to the minute fresh. I ordered the berry vinaigrette which was a masterpiece of flavors--strawberry and raspberry the most predominant. Many vinaigrettes are sweet and syrupy, but this one was smooth and creamy with the right sweet/tangy balance that is all too often lacking. Dessert--rhubarb crisp--was the perfect finish to another delectable meal.

Service is fast, wait staff is knowledgeable, and because the pizza oven is part of the decor, diners can watch the chef demonstrate his impressively nimble and efficient skills. The night we visited was very busy --partially because it was a Community Night to benefit the American Chestnut Preservation Society--but the staff was able to manage tables of twelve as well as for two without missing a beat.

We are already looking forward to another visit to Harvest Table--even making it a destination in itself!

“A destination!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

On a driving trip from the UP of Mi to FL, this was one of the few places enroute that was a "must" for us.We are interested in businesses supporting local farmers and artisans. We ordered the soups (mushroom and a curried carrot). Both wonderful. The shop had a wonderful selection of handmade items. We also ordered a pizza and 3 berry bread pudding to go.....for our dinner down the road. Thank you....we hope to return!

The best!! So happy we have this hidden treasure in our area!! I had the open-faced meatloaf and my kids had the biscuits and gravy. My kids said,"this is the best gravy I have ever put in my mouth!" Worth the drive from Bristol!! Must check this out!!

“Sunday brunch was tasty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2014

We went for Sunday brunch at this quaint little restaurant. All of our food was delicious, and I'd recommend the mushroom soup and trout cake benedict to those considering dining there. Don't miss dessert, either.
