I have stayed with my husband and our daughter at Seatoller House for the best part of 40 years. There is simply no place to compare with this excellent hostelry. Great food, friendly managers and a sense of history woven into the very fabric of the place. It is also located in one of the finest areas for walking or climbing - Scafell and Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Pillar Rock are all peaks that we have climbed regularly from the house - and the pleasure of returning to unlimited mugs of tea and a piece of Tricia's wonderful cake is always guaranteed to provide ample motivation for tired legs on the way back to the valley.

This is a unique place set up for walkers in the Borrowdale Valley, English Lake District. Great food intimate ambience. Very well run by Nigel and Trish shared dining room on a collegiate basis so guests can talk over the days hike with each other before taking coffee in the cosy lounge later
.I was part of a group of 11 friends who love walking in the Lake Distict and are regular visitors to Seatoller House. It is one of our favourites.
Bedrooms are quirky but fun and all have their own bathrooms which are adjacent to but not usually en suite.
A great place for any keen walker or as a base for a general tourist who wants to take advantages of one of the most beautiful locations in the British Isles

Stayed with three friends on a short walking holiday. Our fifth annual visit. Seatoller House is a home from home. Good and friendly service with a touch of self help. Communal dining generates an excellent atmosphere and the chances are that you'll meet the same people again if you return next year. Great fun, great value, great food and an experience not to be missed. The absence of TV , Radio and Mobile reception is a huge bonus!! Thank you Lynne and Dan.

Seatoller House was everything we hoped for and more. The welcome we received was warm, the public rooms were cosy and our bedroom was comfortable and peaceful. Evening meals were a real event. Dinner was served communally around large tables, with guests getting involved in serving up the puddings, etc. We had a different, delicious, four course line-up each night, except Tuesdays, when the staff took a well earned day off, followed by coffee in the comfortable library and sitting room when we would be given the weather forecast for the next day, and orders for packed lunches were taken. Breakfast could be as big or small as you wanted, and set us up perfecty for tackling the hills.
Walking wise it was ideal with peaks such as Great Gable and Scafell well within walking distance from the guest house. It was lovely to get back after a day in the hills, help ourselves to a cool cider from the honesty bar and enjoy it in the sunny garden, bliss.
The staff were wonderful, friendly but not in your face, service and location were terrific, and it was such excellent value for money. We will certainly be returning to Seatoller House, looking forward to it already.
