The Mark Addy B&B was a wonderful B&B experience for my sweetheart and I. We've just stayed in the same room where Thomas Jefferson stayed when he would visit with the owner to go hunting. The home's decor creates a sense of history and warmth. The grounds are charming without being perfect. Leslie and Rafi are excellent hosts and we felt welcomed from the first minute. Breakfasts were delicious. It's location on Nelson 151 is minutes away from several wineries, dining locations and antiques shopping. There is also easy access to Charlottesville about 30 minutes away.
We will definitely stay here again.

The Mark Addy is a great place to stay in Nelson County. Nicely situated just off Route 151, the Mark Addy is oriented away from the road, with the front of the house looking out over a field and off into the mountains. The Colonel is a large room with great space for relaxing on two recliners and with access to a shared balcony. The breakfasts were very good. Both days featured a light fruit-centric first course, followed by your choice of sweet breads and then the main course. We enjoyed a delightful quiche one day and a wonderful take on eggs benedict the next.

And, Leslie, who runs the show at the Mark Addy, is always willing to help. She made a point of telling us to bug her with any request or question, and we did. She is a great hostess.

Room Tip: The Colonel has two comfortable recliners that are the perfect reading chairs.

What a wonderful place for a extended weekend getaway. My husband and I found the Inn on Groupon with a wonderful discount for the 2 night stay. We have no complaints. Bed was very comfortable. Two comfortable robes for our use. Private bathroom. Two comfortable chairs in small room. Breakfast at 9:00a was delicious and filling. Inn was quiet. (3 other couples at the Inn) Outdoor places to sit. (Though we had rain all day) Great Breweries, wineries and restaurants close by. I will visit again and have already recommended the Mark Addy to friends.

Room Tip: "Mimosa" Room was a quite small but we were only in the room at night to sleep. If you li...

Very comfortable, owner occupied b & b. We were in two rooms, due to the remodeling of our reserved room. Both were very quite nice. Our reserved room was available and enjoyed on the second night. That room, the Schloss, was great. Private porch to drink our morning coffee.

No t.v., not a problem for us.

The breakfast was much more than expected.

Strongly recommend.

What a special place to celebrate our 44th Anniversary. Leslie made us feel right at home and special at the same time. The food and wine were excellent, Rafael has a magic touch with food. The lamb chops and filet mignon melted in our mouths. Our room "The Elena" was cozy with a warm fireplace if you needed it. We did the wine and brewery tour also and had our special driver who was very patient plus Leslie helped too. We definitely will be going back again soon, we love this part of Virginia and never get tired our lovely mountains and the wonderful people we meet.

First of all, for anyone who previously stayed here who was seriously complaining about trivial things like wallpaper and water spots on the ceiling... If something like a motor home parked off to the side really detracted THAT much from your stay, then a family run B&B is not for you. The Inn felt like a home away from home. The staff was phenomenal. Leslie was the nicest host and Rafael was a spot on chef. Our first night there were two other couples staying there but our second night we were the only ones there. Even though we were the only ones for breakfast the second day, Rafael still pulled out all the stops and made us a fantastic soufflé just for us. Leslie was extremely helpful with pointing us in the right direction for the Nelson 151 wine and brewpub tour. Our room, the Kensington, has spectacular views of the Wintergreen slopes. The room had a large two person jacuzzi in the bathroom, super soft sheets and the bed was very comfortable. For anyone looking for a nice, quiet getaway try staying during the winter. We were told the summertime brings in a lot more tourists looking to go on the wine/brewpub tours. When we went, we were able to visit five different wine/brewpubs within a few hours with no wait times and great service.
I would HIGHLY recommend the Mark Addy Inn to anyone who's looking for a b&b that treats you like family. For those that require a swanky place where everything is picture perfect, you're better off at a hotel. This place is an older home that's beautifully kept; lest people actually remember this is someone's home that they are so graciously opening up to the public.
The Mark Addy will definitely be one of the first stops we make once we return from our deployment. Looking forward to the relaxing atmosphere and impeccable service is what will keep us going for the next six months!

We spent the weekend at the Mark Addy. Hiked to Crabtree falls during the day, ate at local restaurants for dinner. Breakfast at the Mark Addy very good and plentiful, innkeepers very friendly and accomodating.
