New Church on Virginia’s Eastern shore. We chose this inn because it is pet friendly and we wanted to take our Newfoundland dog to the beach. Located on the property are two of the oldest homes in the county which, along with the grounds, create a very nice atmosphere that harkens back to the beginning of the 18th century. During the winter the rooms in the older house are not available, so we stayed in the modern Shiraz Suite which is very spacious and nicely appointed. The connected private dog area accessed through the bedroom is very convenient for pet owners.

We really like German food and the Renn’s did not disappoint. Each morning a nice breakfast was delivered to our suite. All of the breakfast entrees were new to us and we loved them all. The restaurant at the inn is not open during the winter so went to several local eateries that are listed in the inn’s guide book. All of the food was good and reasonably priced. As you would imagine, the seafood in the area is particularly good.

There is much to see in the area. Among the places we visited were Chincoteague Island and Cape Charles which is about an hour south.

We found our stay very relaxing and would definitely return.

My wife, our 1 year old daughter, and our dog spent the last weekend in January at the Garden and Sea B&B to briefly escape the snow that has blanketed the Northeast this winter. Thomas and Doro were extremely welcoming hosts, making quick friends with our dog and giving us a tour of their extensive grounds.
As it was the off season for the area, we were the only guests of the Inn and occupied the Shiraz Suite. As advertised, this room has a side entrance to a nice fenced in yard, perfect for letting our dog out in the cold morning hours. This suite is quite spacious, consisting of a sitting room with futon and breakfast table, a very large bedroom with extremely comfortable king size bed and huge closet, and a good size bathroom with nice views towards the short walking trails at the back side of the Inn's property. In addition, the suite had free wifi.
Breakfast each morning was delicious and extensive - a different main course and baked goody accompanied by fresh fruit, coffee, and juice.
There are 2 other houses on the property housing the Inn's other rooms, dining area, and a common area with a galley style kitchen and small library. The gardens on the property look to be quite extensive and we were able to wander about them for a nice morning stroll. A decent size pool is set behind one of the houses.
In sum, this is a nice spot to stay close to Chincoteague & Assateague but away from the crowds.

This place is a gem, but not hidden. It is a stones throw from Rte 13, the major north-south artery on the peninsula. If you stay at this B&B, when you return from Chicoteague along the causeway of a hundred billboards, you will be comforted by the knowledge that you are staying in a place that offers solace and refinement. We hope the owners will re-open and continue to operate the restaurant, so that Garden & Sea becomes a self-contained refuge..

G & S Bed and Breakfast was delightful. We stayed in the Champagne Room which was furnished beautifully and very comfortable. Thomas was a very welcoming host and helpful with his dining recommendations. The hot breakfasts were delicious and, since it was winter, were delivered to our door! The inn is dog-friendly, too, with biscuits and dry dog food on hand, as well as towels for muddy paws. It is very convenient to the Chincoteague, Assateague and other MD and VA Eastern Shore attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in the winter--it must be perfect in the summer!

We found the welcome at Garden and the Sea B&B Inn warm and friendly, important since the weather was cold and snowy. Our room had a fireplace blazing and our dog was made at home. Since the restaurant was closed for the winter, breakfast was delivered to our room - and it was delicious. We had a great time.

We just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Garden and Sea Inn. We stayed in the Shiraz suite with our little dog Sadie. The suite has a private fenced in yard with access directly from the bedroom. The convenience of this feature truly made us feel at home. The suite was very spacious and extremely clean. We were the only guests for the last few days of our stay so breakfast was prepared especially for us and delivered right to our room. We truly felt pampered. This is a great place that we would highly recommend. It is very close to Chincoteague and under an hours drive from Assateague. When in the area again, this will definitely be the place we stay!

Me, my husband and our black Lab Molly stayed there three nights over Thanksgiving weekend, including Thanksgiving. This place is awesome if you want to get away from everything and just relax. Thanksgiving dinner was the bomb and after that we had dinner the next two nights there as well. Our room was beautiful with a huge bathroom. Doro and Thomas are great hosts, they take the time to talk to you and you feel really welcome. The two of them are the cherry on top! Molly loved the big property in the back where she could run around and this place really means "dogfriendly". We left Molly in the room for one afternoon and they still had to clean our room even with the dog in it and it was no big deal. New Church is not the most exciting place to be but the Garden and Sea Inn is like an Oasis! We loved it!!!
