The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious. The food was pretty good and the staff was excellent. Only issue is cleanliness of bathroom in room. I honestly think this is a cultural thing because it was a common theme during our two week vacation. Mold in shower that I could wipe away with my finger obviously no attempt was ever made to clean it. Bathroom walls had mineral buildup from some leaking that could have easily been scrubbed off. Location is great, very close to gardens.

On first glance this hotel looked really nice. Our room was large with a large dressing area and bath shower area. The problem with our room was it got no sun and was very dark and cold in both the daytime and night. We requested a heater at night and that helped a bit. Breakfast was the worse we had in 18 days in Myanmar. Surely there must be a better place to stay in such a nice town.

The "rooms" at Pyin Oo Lwin are mini-villas, each with a corner bar/beverage area, a spacious separate dressing area, the only iron and ironing board we encountered in three weeks of different hotels -- plus the space to DO ironing, and a large bathroom with separate shower, tub, and toilet area. The decor is wood, there are comfortable slippers (actually two sets of slippers, flip-flops and fuzzies), a large plasma TV hangs above the fireplace, and the initial impression is delightful. However, the fireplace is “just for show”, housekeeping forgot teabags, the choice of TV channels is limited and reception is poor for all of them. As we have come to expect in Myanmar, there is no heating in spite of freezing temperatures at night. The worst is that the room is filthy. The bath mat is so disgusting that I call housekeeping. When they eventually show up (none too quickly), I also show them the rubbish on the floor. The place has not been cleaned for days. We request a space heater for the second night, which makes things a bit more bearable. Such a lovely infrastructure deserves better management. Breakfast is adequate (aside the clementines, which are locally grown and fabulous) but must be eaten wearing sweaters, coats, and gloves because the dining area is also freezing. Happily for other meals, a branch of Yangon's Feel Restaurant is an easy walk away, even at night (DO carry a flashlight).

This hotel has no space issue. rooms are large. But it needs a relative touch in it: there were dusts if you look at the floor, breakfast is so-so. if the hotel facilitate a heater unit in each room, that'll be a plus. now they have air-con unit which i can't figure out when guests might need a use of it. hotel staffs are nice but most of them have communication problem. If they can fix check out housekeeping and kitchen, the experience of the hotel will be better. if you are physically challanged, you should not stay here, there are steps you need to watch out every in and around hotel area.

Nice hotel. Beautiful land scape, compact and well planned separate bungalows. Excellent staff. Clean. Good shuttle service to mall, and shopping. Away from noise of other parts of town. Restaurant looks great (we did not try). Pool very large and clean. We will stay again. We will recommend to anyone. The best ever in Myanmar......

Room Tip: Any one will do. All great!

In almost 40 years of travelling the Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin comes close the being the most pleasant I've stayed in. The attention to detail in its design and management is excellent, in a town that is well off the beaten track. The lounge with its timber finishes and warm lighting is more like an old world club than a hotel. The bungalows are very well presented, again with timber used extensively and excellent amenities. The bed is excellent, and the warm quilt a nice touch, particularly in January - winter - when I visited. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The location is good also, just 5 minutes by bicycle from the botanic gardens - the hotel has bikes for minimal cost. To Pyin Oo Lwin town is perhaps 15 minutes by horse and ancient coach, which is a very pleasant way to travel. Overall, just a very pleasant stay, that was far too short.

Room Tip: For a view, choose a higher bungalow, even though the walk up the hill from the lobby and restaurant...

It was really nice coming to Pwyin Oo Lwin Hotel. The rooms were very spacious with nice verandas. The environment is tranquill, staffs were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the hotel at a reasonable price. The area is pretty cold at night but plenty of blankets were provided. The hotel is close to the Botanical Garden and also a restaurant close by which serves excellent food and coffee!
Best accommodation we had in Myanmar.
