We had a great stay at Ambersands Beach resort and would highly recommend anyone to stay there who is looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the main resort of White Sands, which is 10 – 15 minutes.
From my initial enquiry Julian the owner was there to help with travel arrangements. I was so confused with ferries and how to get to Trat, but Julian pointed us in the right direction regarding ferries and booked a private transfer from Bangkok, which as a god send. He booked our elephant rides and personally took us to the venue, giving us some interesting facts on Koh Change as we went along. He also booked a Thai cookery class with us with a young lady called Nan. There were only 3 of us on the course; it was like having our own private tuition. The food was amazing…of course…we cooked it! A must for food lovers!
We hired a scooter for a couple of days and travelled down the east coast of the Island exploring the beaches and resorts. We did go into White Sands one day, but if you are a nervous traveller this is not for you. The roads are steep and very windy. I live on the Isle of Man and used to the TT races this was a little testing! It is very cheap though at BT 250 per day. Rooms at the resort are individual chalet type accommodation situated around the pool and next to the beach. The rooms are spacious with your basic necessities.
There are plenty of sun beds around the pool; towels are put on the beds first thing in the morning by the friendly staff. There are hammocks and sun beds on the beach coupled with a lovely sitting area on stilts…perfect place to unwind in the evening.
The food is first class. Even after my Thai Cookery class even I could not fault it!
If you are looking for a lively holiday, this is not for you. Stay at White Sands. If you are looking for a place to relax in a beautiful and laidback atmosphere this is the place for you. But don’t tell too many people or you will not get in!More
