Stayed for over a week at saffron. Staff were really helpful and flexible to our changing needs. The rooms are lovely and they have rustic charm to them. really great spot, very peacefully but you ideally need motorbike to get around to local beaches. The food at this restaurant is a little bit more expensive but is worth it for a treat. Would definitely stay again .

Once you open the door of their bungalows, the folded bath towel swans welcome you, but I was disappointed that there were no mirrors anywhere in the room. Also, the drain in the shower must have been clogged because I had to stand in dirty backup water while showering. It would be nice to actually fix the hole in the door instead of using duct tape over the hole and painting over it. And how about making a curtain rod with a few branches instead of using clips? The mattress was very comfortable, but the sheets had stains on the too.

We choose a sea view bungalow, more expensive (1600 bht), which was nicely decorated. The graden is very nice and the restaurant the best we had in Thailand. You can swim there, but it is not a sand beach. This is the only minus. The owners are great!

Ian of Baan Rim Nam (another great quiet spot!) recommended both the restaurant and the guesthouse to us. The food is amazing, the staff friendly and helpful and the rooms beautiful. The restaurant is overlooking the sea - it is peaceful and quiet, almost serene. The only downside for a lot of people will be the stony beach - but on the other hand, the next beach is only a stones throw away and at least here you can enjoy some peace and quiet.
We spent 3 weeks on Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Kood, and none of the places we went to had the same sense of peace and tranquility. A definite recommendation - at least go there for dinner and take a look at the rooms while youre there!

Didn't actually stay at Saffron, but up the road at Pennys. However, the standard of this restaurant is legendary.

It has the most beautiful setting, so much so that over the course of our time there, we went for 4 meals. I travelled with my partner, but ate out with friends, we would have 6 people for dinner every evening. The food is visually stunning, I had to take out the camera on our first trip, it all looked that good! Thankfully, the taste lived up to the presentation.

The restaurant is a victim of it's own success. Each time we ate there, it was busier and busier. The actual eating are comprises 4 tables, but people were also being served on the adjoining decking area. Their method of service is bizarre. Each table is served there entire meal, before cooking commences for the next table. This was not good for our last visit. We did have a reservation for 8pm, and were sat promptly (second to sit at this time). However, as we were now regulars (possibly at the end of our holiday) we were left waiting and waiting and waiting. The table that sat before us had left by 9pm.

Our appetisers arrived after 10. We eventually got our main courses just before 11pm. At this stage the food was just wolfed down, and not as enjoyed as on previous occassions. There was a 4 year old child in our party. We asked why we were left, but received no answer.

I would recommend this restaurant, it is the most wonderful setting, but I would be wary if the place looks busy. Best advice, get there early!
